As a longtime fan of both Overwatch and Avatar: The Last Airbender, I must say that this crossover event has left me absolutely thrilled! Growing up with Aang and his friends, I never imagined they would one day join forces with my beloved Overwatch heroes.

In the official unveiling of Overwatch 2, a trailer for its collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender has been shown. This confirms that characters like Aang, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Suki, and Appa will be represented as skins for Zenyatta, Genji, Mei, Venture, Kiriko, and Orisa within the game. The exciting crossover skins and the associated in-game event are set to launch in Overwatch 2 from December 17 to 30.

In the unveiling trailer for Season 14, it was hinted that Overwatch 2 would team up with the well-known 2005 animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, which centers around Aang’s elemental journeys. While some leaks surfaced in between, there wasn’t much confirmed info, except for a starting date on December 17th, and character skins for both Aang and Toph, with the latter possibly being the “very exciting” Venture skin mentioned during Season 12.

Excitingly, I’ve just learned that Overwatch 2 has announced the skins inspired by “Avatar: The Last Airbender”! This news was delivered in an adorable animated short where six new skins – Aang transformed as Zenyatta, Appa resembling Orisa, Katara looking like Mei, Toph appearing as Venture, Suki taking the shape of Kiriko, and Zuko donning Genji’s armor – are seen playing tag on the Nepal map. The short ends humorously with a nod to an unfortunate moment in “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” where Zuko is playfully tossed a cabbage, similar to the unlucky merchant from the series.

  • Mei as Katara – Earned via in-game event challenges
  • Zenyatta as Aang
  • Orisa as Appa
  • Venture as Toph
  • Genji as Zuko
  • Kiriko as Suki

On December 17th, both the Overwatch 2 and Avatar: The Last Airbender character skins will debut, accompanied by an in-game event. During this event, which runs until December 30th, fans can complete challenges to unlock Avatar-themed sprays, voice lines, player icons, and the Katara Mei skin. It’s expected that the remaining five skins will be offered in different Overwatch Coin packages available for purchase in the shop.

Ever since the initial unveiling of the Overwatch 2 event, there have been two separate leaks regarding this occasion. One leak displayed all the in-game skin models except for Katara Mei’s, while another disclosed her appearance alongside the main art for the event. Now that Overwatch 2 has officially confirmed the crossover, it appears these leaks were spot on.

Given the immense popularity of the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender“, it’s no wonder fans are eager for this collaboration. Though some players might have preferred cosmetic items featuring other beloved characters from the same franchise such as Sokka or Azula, many consider this crossover one of the finest in “Overwatch 2” due to the exceptional quality, abundance, and overall theme of the skins. It appears that the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” collaboration in “Overwatch 2” is setting a high standard, so let’s hope future collaborations can live up to and surpass fan expectations.
