Overwatch 2 Players Make Human Tower to Kill Time During Server Crash

Highlights

  • Overwatch 2 players creatively pass time with a human tower during server downtime, showcasing teamwork in a unique and fun way.
  • Scheduled maintenance and updates cause periodic server outages, impacting play for those with unreliable connections.
  • Rare moments like the human tower unite players across teams, highlighting the sense of community that is present within Overwatch 2.

In the midst of a server failure for Overwatch 2, two groups of players came up with an unusual pastime: they built an enormous human pyramid. While there have been several instances of server downtimes since its launch, this creative response to the outage is certainly one that will stand out in players’ memories.

Because it’s always running, Blizzard needs to temporarily shut down Overwatch 2 for maintenance, updates, and more. Internet connectivity is crucial for players, so those with unstable connections might experience issues. Players are usually notified of these outages before seasonal launches, but occasionally the game becomes inaccessible unexpectedly. During gameplay, occasional hiccups can cause the game to crash for all players in a match, resulting in a lobby where players can move around freely but cannot advance in the game. A group of players recently experienced this issue and passed the time by building a massive human tower while waiting for the game to come back online.

Reddit user Imjustabananaa recently posted a clip from Overwatch 2 where both teams in a game collaborated towards a shared objective due to their server appearing to malfunction. The user describes that as they waited for a fix, both sides built a human tower in anticipation. In the video, D.Va, Doomfist, Pharah, Lifeweaver, Baptiste, Ashe, and another Lifeweaver are seen stacked on top of each other. The opposing team’s Baptiste climbed the tower using his Exo Boots, with their allied Pharah being lifted by Lifeweaver’s Petal Platform. Since Pharah couldn’t stand on top of Baptiste, Echo was the one who completed the tower and angled the camera downwards to show the structure from above in Overwatch 2.

These Overwatch 2 Players Formed a Human Tower

In the game Overwatch 2, a team fight consists of five players against five others. At its highest point, this human tower can accommodate ten players. In the video, however, Pharah failed to join the tower before it ended, leaving only nine players at the top. This is an uncommon instance where both teams collaborate towards a common goal. Despite Pharah accidentally firing at Echo while attempting to reach the tower’s peak, no player tried to attack each other. Although such harmony might not be typical in regular Overwatch 2 matches, it’s unusual for both sides to maintain such coordination and camaraderie under normal play conditions.

Considering how one player’s reckless actions could have derailed the entire human tower project in Overwatch 2, it’s nothing short of amazing that both teams managed to work together harmoniously. Many of the characters in this towering structure possess mobility-enhancing abilities, which probably aided their strategic placement. Among all these agile heroes, I must admit, it was undoubtedly a challenge for Ashe to make her way up to the top layer of the tower.
