Overwatch 2 Reveals First Look at Vendetta Gameplay, Confirms Role

Blizzard has released a gameplay trailer for Vendetta, the new melee damage-dealing hero coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 20, showcasing all of her abilities. Vendetta brings a quick and aggressive playstyle to the game with attacks like a spinning blade strike, a long-range blade beam, and her powerful Sundering Blade ultimate ability.

Blizzard recently announced Vendetta, a new character joining the world of Overwatch 2 in Season 20. The reveal trailer shows her as a skilled fighter who dramatically defeats a large combat robot by slicing it in half with a powerful energy sword.

All Vendetta Abilities and Perks in Overwatch 2

Blizzard has now shown off gameplay for the new Overwatch 2 hero, Vendetta. Her primary weapon is Palatine Fang, a blade of hard light she uses in quick combos, finishing with a powerful overhead strike. She can also use it to block incoming attacks from the front, though this uses energy. While blocking, she can spend more energy to fire a projectile called Projected Edge. Vendetta is very mobile, thanks to abilities like Whirlwind Dash, which sends her forward with an area attack, and Soaring Slice, which lets her fly to where she throws her sword. Her ultimate ability, Sundering Blade, is a narrow, high-damage attack that can break through most defenses.

  • Weapon
    • Palatine Fang: Hard-light greatsword. Combo swings to end with a destructive overhead slash.
    • Warding Stance: Block with your sword, reducing frontal damage and delfecting melee attacks. Blocking damage depletes energy.
  • Abilities
    • Soaring Slice: Hurl your sword in the direction you are facing and then fly to it.
    • Whirlwind Dash: Rush forward into a circular slash.
    • Projected Edge: Available while Warding Stance is active. Consume energy to fire a wide projectile.
  • Passive
    • Onslaught: Strike enemies to increase movement and attack speed.
  • Ultimate
    • Sundering Blade: Cleave through most defenses, dealing severe damage to enemies in front of you.
  • Perks
    • Minor
      • Siphoning Strike: Overhead strike gains 30% Lifesteal.
      • Relentless: Onslaught can stack 3 more times, increasing attack speed by 5% and movement speed by 4% per stack.
    • Major
      • Swift Vengeance: Last player to land a killing blow on you becomes a target. Eliminate the target to gain 125 overhealth and reset cooldowns.
      • Raging Storm: Whirlwind Dash continues to spin, hitting 3 more times for 40 damage in a wide area.

In Overwatch 2, the new hero Vendetta has Perks that enhance her abilities in different ways. Her Minor Perks can either heal her with the final hit of her Palatine Fang, or let her build up her Onslaught passive faster for increased speed and attack power. Her Major Perks give her the option to extend her Whirlwind Dash, or to mark the player who last defeated her, giving her extra health and resetting her cooldown when she gets a revenge kill.

As a fan, I’m really excited about Vendetta! From what I’ve seen, she seems like she’ll be a super interesting mix of Doomfist and Reinhardt. She’s got that same crazy mobility and power as Doomfist, especially with her Warding Stance, but her attacks and the way she uses Projected Edge feel a lot like playing Reinhardt. Plus, if you enjoyed Fallen Knight Reinhardt from the Mirrorwatch mode, or even played with her mask during the Haunted Masquerade event, you’ll definitely recognize some of her abilities – Onslaught and Sundering Blade feel very similar. It’s like they took the best parts of both heroes and mashed them together!

The newest hero for Overwatch 2 launches with Season 20 on December 9th, but players can start trying them out early! A special Hero Trial for Vendetta will be available from November 26th to December 1st. It’s a longer trial period than usual, extended to include the Thanksgiving holiday, giving players extra time to experience how ‘La Lupa’ will impact gameplay.
