Overwatch 2’s recent content update also adjusted the abilities each hero can use during a game, such as increased damage for Genji and crowd control effects for Doomfist. Now, players on console can use keyboard and mouse to enhance their gaming experience in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 Apologizes For ‘Noob’ Ban
During a hectic week when Overwatch 2 temporarily abandoned the elimination of identical matches in Stadium mode, Blizzard also reconsidered a contentious ban. As Dexerto reported, a Redditor named Content_Tadpole2299, whose post has since been removed, claimed they were permanently banned from Overwatch 2 for typing the word “noob” during a game. This decision sparked backlash from fans who considered it an excessive reaction by Blizzard. However, as of August 29, Blizzard has overturned this controversial ban, allowing players to use the term ‘noob’ in-game without facing penalties. Although Blizzard humorously addressed the situation via Twitter, not everyone found the initial decision amusing. In response, some Overwatch players even demanded that Blizzard disclose a list of words that could result in penalties within the game’s chat system.
When it comes to addressing toxic behavior, Overwatch 2’s main rival, Marvel Rivals, is taking proactive measures. They are employing automated methods much like Overwatch 2, but the developers at Netease Games have made a commitment to their players. Each report submitted to these systems will undergo a review by humans to ensure that no innocent players are incorrectly penalized due to false positives.
