Overwatch 2 Season 12 trailer teases World of Warcraft collab

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt and countless hours spent in the vast universes of Blizzard Entertainment, I can confidently say that this World of Warcraft crossover with Overwatch 2 has me buzzing like a level-100 Draenei shaman. The iconic Frostmourne sword being teased is a clear nod to the Lich King’s reign of terror, and it’s no secret that I’ve spent more time than I care to admit trying to put an end to his icy grasp.

The trailer for Season 12 of Overwatch 2 has finally dropped, and it came with a teaser for a World of Warcraft collab. A few crossovers have come to Overwatch 2, namely One-Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and Transformers. Now, though, it seems that Blizzard is turning to their own IP for the next one.

As I watched the thrilling finale of Season 12, my eyes were drawn to a chilling scene at Eco Point, Antarctica – an eerily silent tableau that was abruptly shattered when a familiar blade, the legendary Frostmourne from World of Warcraft, was plunged into the frozen ground by an enigmatic figure.

In the realm of the World of Warcraft, it was Lich King Arthas who brandished a legendary weapon – one that’s instantly recognizable within the gaming community. This iconic artifact could pave the way for an exciting collaboration, given its prominent status in the world of video games.

In the teaser, the sword is hinted to be involved in the upcoming collaboration; however, its role isn’t fully defined yet. Given previous collaborations that featured Limited Time Modes (LTMs) and hero skins as cosmetics, it’s possible we might see similar elements in this collaboration too.

In fact, we could see Heroes who use swords and big weapons like Genji and Reinhardt to get skins, or even Illari with her sword-inspired weapon. Nothing has been confirmed yet, though, so this is all speculation at this stage.

Overwatch has a history of teaming up with Blizzard’s other franchises, showcased by the inclusion of skins like Torbjorn’s Magni and Genji’s Illadin within the game. Similar to past collaborations, there might be a fresh mode introduced and an array of new skins and accessories for Overwatch characters on the horizon.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve noticed that collaborations between popular games like World of Warcraft usually drop in the middle of the season, so it might be around September when this exciting crossover event becomes available. Rest assured, I’ll keep you informed as soon as Blizzard officially discloses more details about this collaboration. Stay tuned!

In Season 12, we’ll introduce a fresh hero named Juno and a captivating Mythic skin for Reaper. Moreover, the update will include the permanent addition of Clash, ensuring an exciting experience as we gear up for the upcoming collaboration with World of Warcraft.
