Overwatch 2‘s Season 19 Haunted Masquerade event includes a hidden Lupa Mask that hints at the next hero, Hero 45. Players can discover this mask near their starting point in the game. Wearing the mask reveals a preview of the new hero – a character described as a ‘She-Wolf’ – who will be added in Season 20.

Overwatch 2’s Season 19 launched on October 14th, bringing with it three new heroes, a new map, and ‘Gadgets’ for the Stadium map. The update also includes a revamped Battle Pass and other improvements. A highlight of the season is the new Halloween event, ‘Haunted Masquerade,’ a special game mode where heroes wear masks to take on the abilities of other characters. Certain mask combinations even unlock team bonuses based on the characters’ histories.

A hidden item is available in Overwatch 2’s Haunted Masquerade mode that players will want to find. Near the starting point or objective, you can discover the Lupa Mask, which shows a shadowy outline of the new hero’s face and a question mark. Wearing this mask boosts your movement and attack speed after using melee attacks or abilities, and its description reads, “The she-wolf watches.” Player Dani shared a picture of the mask on Twitter through the Overwatch Cavalry account. You can also earn a Lupa Mask weapon charm by completing 10 of the event’s challenges.

Okay, so looking at what this new Hero 45’s mask does, I’m guessing they’re going to be a close-combat fighter who does a lot of damage with their abilities. I also have a feeling they’ll have some kind of skill – maybe always active, or something they can turn on – that makes them move and attack much faster. It just seems to fit with the mask’s effects!

Blizzard has been hinting at their next hero, coming in 2025, quite openly. While they didn’t officially reveal her during the recent *Overwatch 2* Spotlight event, fans discovered a sketch of her hidden in the background. This, along with information found in game files, clues in the Arena Victoriae map referencing a “She-Wolf of Retribution,” a quick appearance in a recent *Overwatch 2* comic featuring Ramattra, and a short audio and visual preview in the Season 19 trailer, are giving players a solid idea of what to expect from this new character.

Adding to the excitement, Alec Dawson, an associate game director for *Overwatch 2*, recently told esports.gg about a new feature called the narrative viewer, coming around the middle of Season 19. He also hinted that Hero 45 will be a key part of that story, which seems to support recent major leaks about the new character and the Talon organization.

Players won’t have to wait much longer to learn about the new Hero 45. She’s launching with Season 20 on December 9th, and we’ll get a preview with a hero trial around the time of the mid-Season 19 update. Most likely, the official reveal of this character – known as the She-Wolf – along with details about her abilities and story, will happen sometime in November.
