As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent in the original Overwatch, I must admit that the recent collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Avatar: The Last Airbender has piqued my interest once again. While the game just launched its new tank hero and experimental return of the 6v6 mode in Season 14, this upcoming event seems like a breath of fresh air.

As a passionate Overwatch fan, I can’t contain my excitement as we’ve just dived into Season 14 of Overwatch 2! But wait, there’s more to look forward to beyond the fresh tank hero and the reappearance of the 6v6 mode. Starting from December 17th, Blizzard is teaming up with the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise for an epic collaboration in Overwatch 2.

Attendees should anticipate the event taking place from December 17th through the 30th, during which several characters will receive Avatar-inspired costumes.

According to Blizzard’s recent announcement, here is a list of special Avatar costumes that some selected heroes will get access to starting next week.

  • Mei as Katara – Flow into battle as the Water Tribe’s wise and fluid defender. Complete special challenges to unlock this skin and bend the flow of battle in your favor.
  • Zenyatta as Aang – Channel the Air Nomad’s legacy of peace and resilience as you glide into combat with the spiritual grace of the Avatar himself, a beacon of hope in any fight.
  • Orisa as Appa – Fly into the fray with your team’s steadfast protector, embodying loyalty and strength to carry your team to victory. *Yip yip!*
  • Venture as Toph – Shake your enemies’ foundations as the unyielding, earthbending master who stands strong against all odds. Show them what true strength looks like, whether they see it coming or not.
  • Genji as Zuko – Fuel your flames with the determined firebender whose heart burns with purpose and redemption, embracing his fierce determination and resilience.
  • Kiriko as Suki – Strike with precision and grace, honoring the unbreakable spirit of a Kyoshi Warrior and blending resolve, strength, and loyalty

For those unwilling to make a purchase, they can acquire the Mei as Katana skin by successfully completing event tasks. For other items, though, you’ll have to utilize your Overwatch Coins.

It could appear unusual for Blizzard to launch a fresh event so soon after Season 14 begins, but it might be a strategic move to counteract NetEase’s Marvel Rivals, which has quickly become the most played game on Steam and garnered over 10 million players within 72 hours.
