The action-packed game, Overwatch 2, is set for a collaboration with Capcom’s highly anticipated title, Street Fighter 6. This exciting crossover will see the addition of eight character-themed skins and various cosmetic items to the multiplayer shooter from May 20. This marks a significant milestone for Overwatch 2, as it’s the first time it’s partnered with a non-Blizzard game. The collaboration also hints at potential future partnerships for the game in the days ahead.
In 2022, the launch of Overwatch 2 transformed Blizzard’s well-known team-shooter game into a free-to-play version. Although its fundamental mechanics are based on the hero shooter genre initially introduced by Overwatch, characters you recognize remain part of the game. Interestingly, Blizzard has broadened its horizons to incorporate collaborations, much like other live-service games such as Fortnite‘s remarkable Marvel partnerships. In a similar vein, Blizzard is embracing various media properties in a way that’s become common among these types of games.
At EVO Japan 2025, a tournament that’s long hosted Street Fighter 6, it has been confirmed by both Blizzard and Capcom that the Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6 event starts on May 20th. This exciting collaboration will introduce eight vibrant new character skins inspired by Street Fighter 6 – Hanzo transformed into Ryu, Juno assuming the role of Chun-Li, Kiriko becoming Juri, Widowmaker taking on Cammy’s appearance, Zenyatta channeling Dhalsim, Soldier: 76 morphing into Guile, Winston embodying Blanka, and Sigma adopting the persona of M. Bison.
Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6 Collab Brings a New Era
Besides the character skins, this event is set to feature other themed items like sprays and emotes as well. As reported by Blizzard, not only will there be in-game purchases, but random items may also appear. The price details haven’t been disclosed yet, however, given the cost of previous collaboration skins in Overwatch 2, it is speculated that they could range between 1,800 to 2,000 Coins for individual skins and approximately 2,500 Coins for bundles. Additionally, there might be larger mega bundles offered for a better value, although they will come at a higher cost.
Including characters from Street Fighter in collaborations might signal a change in Blizzard’s typical approach to partnerships. While Overwatch 2 has previously teamed up with Blizzard’s own games like World of Warcraft and Diablo, these external opportunities have primarily been confined to non-game media. Major crossovers could help expand the reach of Overwatch 2, which is crucial given that it currently faces stiff competition from games like Marvel Rivals.
On the contrary, Street Fighter isn’t new to showing up in different games. This popular fighting game series has been involved in numerous crossovers, such as one where various character skins were introduced in Fortnite. While some are raising doubts about the character choices, given everyone’s personal preferences, players have generally responded positively. Enthusiasts are already brainstorming potential collaborations between the two franchises, like Sombra donning Laura’s outfit or Roadhog undergoing a Birdie transformation.
