Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft Collab Explained

Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft Collab Explained

As someone who’s been a dedicated fan of both Overwatch and World of Warcraft for years now, I must say, the recent crossover event between these two titanic Blizzard IPs has truly been a dream come true! The 20th anniversary of WoW is a momentous occasion that needed to be celebrated in a big way, and this collaboration certainly fits the bill.

In essence, Overwatch 2 has been consistently introducing collaborations with various other franchises throughout its existence. This approach keeps the game’s atmosphere vibrant and exciting while providing players with a wealth of new content. These collaborative efforts often include cosmetic items, challenges, and temporary game modes. Notably, a comprehensive crossover featuring World of Warcraft has recently been incorporated into the franchise.

It’s only natural that, given their massive status as Blizzard properties, Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft are finally collaborating in a significant way. This collaboration, happening from September 17 to 30, offers a plethora of cosmetic rewards. Although the premium Legendary skins have been drawing much attention, there are still plenty of exciting prizes for players to earn during this event.

Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft’s Collaboration Marks a Special Occasion

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Blizzard has unveiled an exciting collaboration between “World of Warcraft” and “Overwatch 2” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the former. This unique blend of their two most significant intellectual properties is a testament to their remarkable journey. Although the collaboration doesn’t seem to offer significant gameplay changes, it certainly has me hooked with the introduction of an array of stunning Legendary skins inspired by “WoW”.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed some exciting changes in the game world! I recently stumbled upon new skins that have really caught my eye. For instance, there’s this Sylvanas Windrunner look for Widowmaker, inspired by the bow-wielding Banshee Queen from WoW. It’s a nod to her character that I appreciate as a fan.

In this collaboration with World of Warcraft, these fresh Legendary cosmetics include cinematics inspired by WoW’s Play of the Game, along with a collection of amusing emotes that replicate the behavior of NPCs who have been giving quests in the long-standing MMO. Although these aspects are only accessible through in-game transactions, Blizzard graciously has also provided numerous rewards that players can strive for free during the event’s duration.

Overwatch 2’s World of Warcraft Collaboration Has Content For All Players

In summary, fans have the chance to collect ten free mementos, which could be sprays, icons, name tags, or weapon decorations, to celebrate World of Warcraft‘s 20th anniversary. These items are linked to completing special event tasks, and players can also gain battle pass experience as bonus rewards. However, it’s disappointing that the collaboration doesn’t feature any temporary game modes themed around World of Warcraft, which some players felt was a missed opportunity for a significant event in Blizzard’s history.

Fans won’t need to wait much longer for more anniversary-themed content, as Overwatch 2 marks its first birthday with an exciting event commencing on September 24. This three-week extravaganza will resurrect temporary game modes like Mirrorwatch, Beast Hunt, Prop Hunt, and Cosmic Crisis. Overwatch has a rich past of collaborating with World of Warcraft, but the latest crossover event is one of the most extensive in the franchise’s history. Although unique game modes might have made the collaboration even more delightful, fans can still appreciate an abundance of fresh cosmetics and challenging rewards to earn.
