Overwatch 2 has officially rolled out its mid-Season 15 patch, featuring buffs for the Perks of nearly a dozen heroes, the start of the second LE SSERAFIM collaboration, and a new Mythic weapon skin for Widowmaker. With the Freja trial starting on March 21 and the 2018 GOATS meta Overwatch: Classic event joining this content on March 25, Overwatch 2 fans are going to have plenty to do over the next few weeks.
On February 18, Overwatch 2 released its massive Season 15 update, which introduced Perks, Loot Boxes, and a competitive rank reset. The game-changing patch was one of the largest in the game’s history and was the first to implement content revealed during the recent Overwatch 2 Spotlight event.
Now, exactly a month later, Overwatch 2 has followed up this update with an impressive mid-season patch. One of the headlining features of the content update is the start of the second LE SSERAFIM collaboration, featuring brand-new skins for D.Va, Ashe, Mercy, Illari, and Juno, plus recolors of the ones from the first event in 2023. Players can also complete in-game challenges to earn the Fawksy James Junkrat skin if they missed out on it last time. On March 21, Overwatch 2 fans can try out Freja ahead of her release in Season 16, and on March 25, a new Overwatch: Classic event begins, featuring the September 2018 hero balance in which Moira, Brigitte, and Wrecking Ball helped shape what became known as the GOATS meta.
Of course, no Overwatch 2 patch would be complete without hero balance – and this time, the overwhelming majority received buffs. Junker Queen, Roadhog, Brigitte, Genji, and Mei are just a few of the Overwatch 2 heroes who have had some of their underperforming Perks adjusted to be more viable picks. Beyond Perk buffs, Illari’s Solar Rifle also received a tune-up in the form of Quick Melee no longer pausing the weapon’s recharge.
While most of these balance changes were buffs, Bastion and Torbjorn had no such luck. Bastion’s overpowered Self-Repair Perk in Overwatch 2 now has a resource meter, and Torbjorn’s Turret had its base health and damage reduced, though the Craftsman Minor Perk now bumps its health back up to its pre-nerf levels.
Beyond that, Overwatch 2 players can officially buy the Dame Chance Mythic weapon skin for Widowmaker in the Mythic Shop. This evolving rifle features unique animations, UI elements, sound effects, and a weapon flourish where Widowmaker spins her Grappling Hook, making this cosmetic potentially appealing for fans of the femme fatale.
