Overwatch 2’s Wuyang is Having a Moment Few New Heroes Get to Experience

Season 18 of Overwatch 2 introduced Wuyang, the second new hero of 2025. Previously revealed as Aqua during a special event, Wuyang is a fast-moving support character who can quickly navigate the battlefield. She can push enemies away with powerful waves and even control water spheres to pursue them. Wuyang is a truly unique addition to the Overwatch 2 roster.

Wuyang offers more than just a unique gameplay style in *Overwatch 2*. He’s quickly become a fan favorite, inspiring a huge amount of community-created artwork and positive attention. Blizzard has clearly noticed this enthusiasm, celebrating his release with a special collaboration and exclusive Twitch rewards for fans.

Wuyang is Getting a Lot of Love from Overwatch 2

Could Wuyang Become Overwatch 2’s New Poster Child?

On September 16th, a mid-season update launched for *Overwatch 2*, kicking off a collaboration with *Persona 5*. Similar to past events, this crossover includes in-game challenges, hidden surprises, and new character skins based on the popular JRPG.

  • Wuyang as Joker (Ren Amamiya)
  • Mercy as Panther (Ann Tamaki)
  • Lifeweaver as Fox (Yuske Kitagawa)
  • D.Va as Queen (Makoto Niijima)
  • Genji as Skull (Ryuji Sakamoto)

It’s common to see popular heroes like D.Va, Mercy, and Genji receive new skins, but the choice of Wuyang is particularly interesting. Wuyang was only added to the game three weeks ago, and now they’re a central figure in the latest crossover, even getting an *Overwatch 2* skin based on the *Persona 5* character Joker.

Juno used to be the fastest champion to receive a collaborative skin after being released. She debuted in Season 12 on August 20, 2024, and got a skin in the *Overwatch 2* x *My Hero Academia* collaboration about 8 weeks later, during Season 13 on October 17. However, Wuyang quickly surpassed that record.

Adding to the excitement, Wuyang is also part of the in-game rewards available on Twitch during the mid-Season 18 Overwatch 2 streams. Viewers can earn the Mala Mania Spray, Happy Panda Weapon Charm, and two Namecards – Seeking Waters Way and Panda Hugger – all themed around Wuyang. It’s rare for a new hero to have Twitch Drops during their launch season – it’s only happened twice before: with Kiriko’s Sukajan skin when Overwatch 2 launched, and with Ramattra’s Traveling Monk skin in Season 2.

You can get these cosmetic items, along with standard and Epic Loot Boxes, by watching any Overwatch 2 streamer on Twitch for 13 hours between now and October 8th.

Wuyang is quickly becoming a popular hero in *Overwatch 2*, and many players think he’ll be the new face of the game. Traditionally, heroes like Tracer, Mercy, and D.Va have been prominently featured in *Overwatch 2*’s marketing. More recently, Kiriko and Juno have also taken on that role. Given Wuyang’s appealing personality and looks, and how well-liked he is, it’s likely he’ll become a key figure representing the franchise.
