Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm Fans Can Earn Free Cosmetics By Playing World of Warcraft: Midnight

Blizzard has announced that players can unlock a Devourer Genji skin for Overwatch and a Crimson War Bear mount for Heroes of the Storm by playing World of Warcraft: Midnight. You’ll earn these rewards simply by completing the introductory part of the World of Warcraft: Midnight game once it launches.

The new World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion is launching soon! Players with early access can start playing on February 26th, and everyone else can join in on March 2nd. To mark the occasion, World of Warcraft is offering special rewards on Twitch: you can earn Alliance and Horde Murloc decorations as a free Twitch Drop, and get the Fishmonger May pet by supporting your favorite streamers.

New Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm Cosmetics for Playing WoW: Midnight

Playing Midnight doesn’t just offer rewards within the game itself. Blizzard recently announced that players can unlock free items for other popular titles, including Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. By completing the introductory quests in Midnight and earning the “Echoes of Midnight” achievement in World of Warcraft, fans can receive the Devourer Genji skin for Overwatch and the Crimson War Bear mount for Heroes of the Storm.

Devourer Genji is a new look for the hero Genji in Overwatch, based on the popular Illidan Stormrage from World of Warcraft. The original Illidan Genji skin was only available to BlizzCon 2019 attendees and hasn’t been offered since. This new Devourer skin is a recolor of the original, inspired by the Void-themed Demon Hunter specialization recently added to World of Warcraft: Midnight. It’s the first time Blizzard has released a recolored version of the Illidan skin.

The Crimson War Bear is a special version of the popular Amani War Bear mount from World of Warcraft, now available in Heroes of the Storm. While some things in Heroes of the Storm are brand new, like the Devourer Genji skin, the Crimson War Bear is an existing mount. Normally, this Epic skin costs 400 Shards, so getting it for free is a great deal.

Players can earn more than just a few bonus items through Midnight. Starting with Patch 11.2.7 on December 2, 2025, those who own Midnight and finish the introductory Housing quest will unlock the “Welcome Home” achievement in World of Warcraft and receive special items for other Blizzard games.

The rewards include the Xal’atath Symmetra skin for Overwatch, complete with a matching Spray, Name Card, and Player Icon. This skin turns the hero into the primary villain from World of Warcraft: Midnight. It’s a different color scheme for the Symmetra skin first released at BlizzCon 2019, and is the second recolor, following the Sin’dorei Symmetra skin, which sometimes becomes available in the game shop for 1,900 Overwatch Coins or through Loot Boxes.

Players can also unlock a Hearth & Home card design for Hearthstone, console themes based on the Horde and Alliance factions in StarCraft 2, and a special Sin’dorei Portal skin for Diablo Immortal.

We don’t know exactly how long the special rewards for World of Warcraft will be offered. However, because they’re tied to achievements that are always available, they’ll likely be around for a while, possibly forever. Regardless, players will be able to earn Devourer Genji and the Crimson War Bear starting February 26th if they have the Epic Edition of World of Warcraft: Midnight, and March 2nd for all other players.
