Recent surveys suggest that new skins are in development for Overwatch, featuring ideas like Battle Sharks, Island Parties, Hell Bikers, and Animal Gangsters. While these designs might not make it into the game, there’s a possibility they could become official cosmetics in the future.
Blizzard occasionally shares concept art for new hero skins with a small group of Overwatch fans through surveys. Some of these designs eventually become available in the game – for example, the Spring Fairy and Court of Roses skins, which were first shown in a survey from February 2025 and later released in Overwatch‘s Reign of Talon Season 2.
New Overwatch Skin Concepts From May 2026
Blizzard recently released a survey featuring 39 potential skin ideas for Overwatch. Reddit user Himedanshi999 compiled and shared these concepts, which are organized around 10 different themes. Players who enjoy ocean-themed games like Subnautica 2 might like the Battle Sharks, Abyss, and Island Party skins, while those with a preference for edgier styles could enjoy the Demo-Punk, Animal Gangsters, and Hell Bikers options.

These skin concepts feature 26 out of Overwatch’s 51 heroes. While popular characters like Kiriko, Wuyang, Freja, and Juno are well-represented, the variety is better than many similar collections. Surprisingly, Mercy, who has the most skins overall, isn’t included at all. Instead, the designs highlight less common heroes such as Brigitte, Hazard, Mauga, and Mei, as well as newer additions like Emre, Mizuki, Anran, Domina, Jetpack Cat, and Vendetta.
When Could Overwatch Release These Skins?
Blizzard started asking players about their favorite skin ideas for Overwatch in December 2023, and does so about three times a year. This current survey is the ninth one. Historically, around half of the skin ideas presented in these surveys have actually been developed and added to the game – for example, the Norse, Demon Rocker, and Pool Party skins. However, not every idea from a survey makes the cut, and sometimes heroes who weren’t featured in the concept art end up with new skins as well.

Generally, it takes at least a year for skins featured in Overwatch surveys to actually appear in the game. For example, none of the skins shown in surveys from January 2026, September 2025, or April 2025 have been released yet. This suggests that the newest skin concepts won’t likely be available until sometime next year, potentially around Season 2 or 3 of the 2027 storyline. If you want to help shape which skins make it into the game, be sure to tell Blizzard which ones you like best when you receive the survey – your feedback can increase the chances of your favorite designs being added!
