I was so excited to finally see *LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight* at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live! Not only did they show off a trailer, but Jonathan Smith from TT Games came on stage and said this game is going to be *the* ultimate Batman story. Apparently, it’s going to take us through Bruce Wayne’s whole life, from his tough childhood all the way through over eighty years of Batman history pulled from comics, movies, TV shows, and even other games. It sounds amazing!

Anime’s popularity is booming, moving from a specialized interest to a mainstream phenomenon. With so many new and amazing shows appearing, competition is fierce. Throughout the year, Crunchyroll has consistently offered an exceptional selection of anime. The series *Solo Leveling*, released in January 2025, kicked off the year with a bang, and it’s been followed by many other fantastic titles.

A standout feature of *Borderlands 4* is how well Gearbox balances humor and seriousness throughout the game, and I completely agree. There are plenty of genuinely funny moments, like the Vault Hunters using silly voices during combat or a side quest that references a joke from *The Pre-Sequel* after ten years. But when the story turns dark – whether it’s the unsettling experiments of Vile Lictor in the main quest, or the disturbing cases in side quests about a dangerous serial killer – the game maintains that serious tone perfectly. You won’t find any jokes that feel out of place.

Switch 2 players enjoyed several new games in September, including *Star Wars Outlaws*, *Cronos: The New Dawn*, and the highly anticipated *Hollow Knight: Silksong*. *Silksong* has quickly become one of the best-rated games of the year, making September a fantastic month for the Switch 2. However, October looks to be even more packed with releases.

I’m so excited! Devsisters started hinting at a new update for *Cookie Run: Kingdom* a little while ago, and it’s finally coming! We’re getting a new cookie named Silent Salt Cookie, and a bunch of other cool stuff. They’re calling the update “Catacombs of Silence,” and it’s set to launch on September 24th. I can’t wait!

These games represent the end of a significant period for their series. They often conclude the stories of beloved characters and, more importantly, signal a change in direction for the developers or the franchise itself. Thankfully, in nearly every instance, these games delivered a strong and satisfying finale to years of storytelling and character development.

The Elbaf arc of *One Piece* is slowly unveiling key details that fans have anticipated for years. It’s expected that Oda, the series creator, is heavily featuring influential figures from the *One Piece* world, including Rocks D. Xebec, Roger, Garp, and others like Imu, Garling, and the Holy Knights.

Coming out on September 25th, *Silent Hill f* is taking the series in a new and experimental direction, while still trying to capture the feeling that fans love. It builds on the improvements made in the *SH2 Remake*, but tells a completely original story in a new location. This approach has left fans both excited and hesitant. However, the idea of a brand new *Silent Hill* game after a long wait is still very appealing. If *Silent Hill f* is successful in pushing the series forward, it might make it harder to revisit the classic games in the future.

The upcoming release of *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* is creating some buzz, and a little rivalry. Sega has been subtly taking aim at *Mario Kart*, with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka specifically highlighting that *CrossWorlds* will feature cross-platform play – something another kart racer doesn’t offer. Their marketing even includes a nostalgic ad that directly compares the games, playfully criticizing *Mario Kart World*’s free roam feature. This competitive approach has some fans worried about whether it could affect Sonic’s potential inclusion in future *Smash* games.

Set in 1960s Japan – a departure from the original games’ American setting – *Silent Hill f* follows teenager Shimizu Hinako as her town of Ebisugaoka becomes enveloped in a strange, thick fog. Players will guide Hinako as she confronts terrifying monsters and solves puzzles while trying to understand the fog’s unsettling psychological impact. This is the first major installment in the *Silent Hill* series since *Silent Hill Downpour* was released in 2012.
