The forthcoming blockbuster, which aims to revitalize both the Superman movie series and the DC Universe (now known as just the DCU), is crucial for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. Superman will mark the beginning of “Chapter One” in this rebranded DCU, a segment consisting of films and TV shows under the title “Gods and Monsters.” Notable, lesser-known characters like Supergirl, Clayface, and Swamp Thing are leading most of the Chapter One movies, suggesting that Superman is shouldering much of the responsibility for the DCU until Andy Muschietti’s Batman film, titled The Brave and the Bold, is launched. James Gunn, co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, has shown his dedication to this project by deciding to pen, produce, and direct Superman himself.
