Revive Yakuza: Dead Souls – The Pirate Yakuza’s Wild Success Proves It’s Time!
In 2011, the game titled “Yakuza: Dead Souls” was launched with minimal excitement in the western world, as it came before the series gained significant popularity through games like “Yakuza Kiwami” and “Yakuza Zero.” The title itself hints that this is a bizarre spin-off from the regular soap opera, mafia-related storylines of the main series. Instead, it features iconic characters such as Goro Majima and Kazuma Kiryu battling hoards of zombies in Kamurocho, thereby altering the familiar city sandbox setting. It’s worth noting that “Dead Souls” was a daring departure from the already zany “Yakuza” formula at the time. However, considering the quirky, wild adventure of “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii,” going back to this “Resident Evil”-influenced game doesn’t seem too unlikely.
