In a chilling scene at a funeral in “Final Destination 5”, the character William Bludworth, played by the late horror icon Tony Todd, ominously stated, “Death doesn’t appreciate being deceived.” Fourteen years have passed since that spine-tingling performance. One of the standout aspects of New Line’s film series was Todd’s portrayal of Bludworth, a creepy intermediary between the living and the dead, who helped victims grasp their precarious situations in “Final Destination” 1, 2, and 5. The films lacking Todd were noticeably less effective, while those featuring him benefited greatly from his exceptional ability to instill discomfort in the most unsettling manner. After fourteen long years of anticipation for another installment, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” vows to wrap up the franchise with a final warning from Bludworth and another round of gruesome accident sequences, orchestrated by death itself.
