On April 29th, Respawn Entertainment announced the termination of two unannounced games that were in their early stages of development. This decision resulted in job losses affecting around 300 to 400 employees across Electronic Arts (EA), including 100 from Respawn itself. The layoffs were characterized as strategic adjustments within EA’s Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi teams.

Interestingly, a former employee’s LinkedIn profile from March 2025 hinted at an undisclosed multiplayer first-person shooter project by Respawn. After the announcement of these layoffs and game cancellations, more details about this first-person shooter have emerged in recent reports.
