Many video games incorporate both cosmic horror and science fiction elements, yet there are fewer titles that explicitly merge these genres. Games such as Bloodborne and The Sinking City heavily emphasize cosmic horror, but their settings align more closely with traditional cosmic horror game worlds. On the other hand, some games delve deeply into the essence of cosmic horror while set in worlds dominated by classic science fiction themes, resulting in a chilling amalgam that has given rise to some of the most captivating and thought-provoking games within the industry.

In the third installment of Horizon, players will now have the exciting opportunity to build their own communities amidst this post-apocalyptic world. Previously, LEGO Horizon Adventures introduced similar concepts, and with the looming danger of Nemesis, it seems like an ideal moment for the full realization of that capability. Provided the studio manages to keep it from overshadowing the main narrative, a feature allowing settlement building appears to be the ideal progression.

It’s advantageous when some showrunners and animation studios are enthusiasts of the games they’re adapting, as this allows them to depict the narratives authentically without losing the appeal for the players. At the same time, they demonstrate their expertise in converting a game’s visuals, stories, and characters into their unique interpretations.

As the June debut of Death Stranding 2 approaches, Kojima Productions has unveiled several tantalizing previews that only add to the enigma surrounding the game. From newly introduced characters to its central storyline, Death Stranding 2 continues to be shrouded in mystery. The original chapter was filled with mind-bending scenes, but the sequel aspires to outdo its forerunner, and one of the most apparent ways this is being achieved is through the inclusion of a BT mech known as the Magellan Man.

Due to the massive success of the Pokemon series, fan art has really taken off. Some enthusiasts delight in sketching ideas for potential new versions and categories of Pokemon, while others give their creations a LEGO twist. It’s no surprise that iconic characters like Pikachu and Charizard are frequently chosen as subjects. But there are fans who prefer to construct striking designs using various Pokemon from the vast collection, such as Volcarona.

Over time, many imaginative homages have been paid to Arbok, the Gen 1 Pokemon. Among the fascinating games launched alongside the Nintendo Switch was not a big-name publisher’s creation, but instead a game from indie developer SFB Games. This studio, responsible for the 2024 horror game “Crow Country”, introduced a 2D puzzle game titled “Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together!” on the Switch. In partnership with Nintendo, this game was designed specifically to take advantage of the new Joy-Con controllers. The unique aspect of “Snipperclips” lies in its gameplay, where players control two characters (essentially, sentient pieces of paper) and solve puzzles by cutting each character into specific shapes using the snipping mechanic provided in the game. Fans of this release might want to watch out for another title called “Mouse Work”, which shares some similar features.

Ever since it debuted in 2018, “Sea of Thieves” has solidified itself as one of the top pirate simulation games available. Offering both single-player and multiplayer modes such as the Safe Seas scenario or the competitive player versus player action on the High Seas, “Sea of Thieves” is currently in its 15th season. Each new season introduces fresh rewards, tasks, and gameplay aspects for players to enjoy.

As a devoted follower, I can’t help but marvel at how the shift of power via magical prowess completely rearranges the social fabric: those once disregarded rise to prominence, those basking in popularity now struggle, and the backstabbing stings more profoundly when it comes from peers who were seated next to me in math class mere hours prior.
