2022’s “Uncharted” didn’t receive as much critical praise as Naughty Dog’s other big-screen releases, such as “The Last of Us” (2023). Compared to its Rotten Tomatoes score of 41%, “The Last of Us” was more favorably received by critics. Despite this, the movie was a significant financial success with audiences, earning $407.1 million against a budget of $120 million. However, fans of the series were disappointed that the film’s portrayal didn’t align closely enough with their expectations. Tom Holland did well in the role of a younger Nathan Drake, but long-time “Uncharted” gamers were accustomed to playing an older version of the character and joining adventures alongside an older Sully (Mark Wahlberg). This shift from the traditional characters felt somewhat disconcerting, as it featured Spider-Man in the lead role with Wahlberg as his mentor. Additionally, the film fell short in capturing Uncharted’s distinct atmosphere – a blend of humor, action, drama, and mystery that had contributed to the video games’ immense popularity.

To date, the animated series based on “Devil May Cry” has been met with favorable criticism and has consistently dominated Netflix’s viewership rankings since its debut on April 3.
