Season 2 of The Last of Us delves into the lives of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) five years after the end of Season 1, showcasing their existence in Jackson, Wyoming. Joel has been engaged in construction work within the fortified town, a job he held prior to the outbreak, while 19-year-old Ellie is honing her self-defense skills by practicing jiu-jitsu and learning to handle infected with Tommy (Gabriel Luna), Joel’s brother. Tommy’s spouse, Maria (Rutina Wesley), appears anxious about the town’s construction progress, urging Joel to hasten his work. However, Joel feels that Maria is admitting too many people into the town and believes they should prioritize their own community members. The first episode also introduces Ellie’s close friend, Dina (Isabela Merced), and her relationship with Jesse (Young Mazino). Yet, as shown in the barn dance scene, the friendship between Ellie and Dina seems to be evolving into something more romantic.
