Palworld Dev Addresses ‘Story-Based’ Future Game

A representative from Pocketpair recently hinted at the possibility of a future Palworld game with a strong focus on storytelling.

While dealing with a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the team behind Palworld is also finishing up update 1.0, which will officially launch the full game. In addition to this, the community manager has hinted at a future Palworld game focused on storytelling, which could be exciting for players.

Palworld Was Never Designed to be a Linear Narrative Title, But Could Get a Story-Based Game in the Future

GamesRadar+ noticed a recent conversation on X (formerly Twitter) where a Palworld fan told developer Pocketpair (through their representative, Bucky) that the game could use more story. The fan explained they felt lost without a strong narrative to guide them. Bucky responded by clarifying that Palworld was intentionally designed as an open-world survival-crafting game, not a story-driven one.

Palworld’s team recognizes that many fans of creature-collecting games, like Pokémon, enjoy a strong storyline. While they haven’t made any promises, they haven’t dismissed the possibility of creating a more story-driven Palworld game in the future.

Palworld is getting some exciting updates! A collaboration with Ultrakill is coming this month, and a mobile version of the game has also been announced. The developers are also curious to hear what players think about a Palworld game with a strong focus on story – share your ideas in the comments, and connect with the community on the official TopMob Discord server.

TopMob has details on a recent leak that supports the popular fan theory about a post-apocalyptic setting in Pokémon Pokopia. Stay updated by subscribing to our weekly newsletter!
