Summary
- Palworld surpassed 212,000 concurrent Steam players in late December 2024, following the release of its Feybreak update.
- This is by far the most concurrent Steam players that the game has had since its initial launch craze died down.
- It’s unclear whether Palworld experienced a comparable popularity spike on consoles as a result of the Feybreak update.
As a long-time gamer who has been following Palworld since its initial launch, I must say that the recent Feybreak update has truly brought back the magic of this game for me. I remember the hype surrounding its release in early 2024, and while the excitement eventually died down, I never thought it would regain such momentum. The fact that over 212,000 concurrent Steam players were recorded during the holiday season is a testament to how engaging this update has been for fans.
The Feybreak update was my opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones in-game. It felt like a breath of fresh air, introducing new challenges, quests, and content that kept me hooked for hours on end. The fact that it surpassed the number of concurrent players from the game’s Sakurajima update is a significant achievement, and I can only imagine how exciting it must have been for newer players to experience this massive influx of activity in the world of Palworld.
It’s unfortunate that we don’t have similar data on the console versions of the game, but I have no doubt that they are also seeing a resurgence in popularity. After all, who can resist the allure of exploring new islands, battling fearsome creatures, and crafting epic gear? The fact that Pocketpair continues to support the game with updates and patches is a testament to their commitment to creating an engaging experience for players.
In short, I’m thrilled to see Palworld thriving once again, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing game. And as a final thought, I have to say that the only thing better than playing Palworld is getting to share it with friends – especially when they’re so busy that they forget to eat or sleep! (But hey, who needs food and rest when you can craft epic gear in Palworld?)
The update for the game “Palworld” is proving to be a significant triumph, as it’s brought back approximately tens of thousands of enthusiastic players. According to Steam player statistics, the game has not enjoyed this level of popularity since March 2024, when its initial buzz started to dwindle.
As a gamer, I jumped into Palworld on December 23 when they released the Feybreak update. The game exploded with over 136,000 fellow players on Steam that same day! However, since it was a Monday release, we knew it would take until the weekend for its full impact to be seen.
Without a doubt, the number of players for the game on Valve’s store has been consistently growing. As per data gathered by SteamDB, the game Palworld reached an impressive 212,817 concurrent players on Steam around 9am ET on December 29. This is the highest number of simultaneous players ever recorded on Valve’s platform since early March 2024. The last time Palworld exceeded 100,000 concurrent players on Steam was in late June 2024, just after the release of its Sakurajima update.
Palworld’s Feybreak Update Peaks 50% Higher on Steam Than Sakurajima
On Steam, Sakurajima’s release allowed for about 143,000 players simultaneously. Feybreak surpassed this figure by nearly half. However, it remains uncertain how this Steam success stacks up against the current console trends of Palworld. As of now, the PlayStation version of Palworld doesn’t make the top 10 on the US PS Store, while its Xbox counterpart is absent from the “Most Played” section of the Xbox Store. Yet, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Palworld isn’t experiencing similar popularity on consoles, given the mystery surrounding how Sony and Microsoft measure game popularity within their systems.
In comparison to its record-breaking player count of over two million simultaneous Steam users during its January 2024 launch, Palworld has seen a significant decrease in its PC user base as of late December. As explained by Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe, this decline is considered normal, as many people who bought the game had already explored much of its content by the time they stopped playing. The Japanese studio intends to keep attracting players back with fresh content updates, such as Feybreak being a recent example of their ongoing efforts in this regard.
As of now, Pocketpair hasn’t revealed a content plan for what’s coming up in Palworld during 2025. However, they’ve just put out a small update (version 0.4.12) to tackle some bugs that appeared after the Feybreak update. This update was first released on PS5 and PC on December 26, followed by Xbox consoles on December 27.
