Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, have announced that their next Winter update won’t be as extensive as the large Feybreak update released last December. Although some Palworld fans might be disappointed, a smaller update could ultimately be beneficial.
So, *Palworld* has been absolutely huge on Steam since it came out in 2024, and honestly, it’s kept a ton of players hooked. A big reason why is that the developers, Pocketpair, have been constantly updating it with new stuff, even though it’s still technically in Early Access. But it sounds like they’re planning to slow down on the *size* of those updates for a bit, because they’ve got something even more important they need to focus on now.
Pocketpair Wants to Focus on the Release of Palworld 1.0
Pocketpair announced that the upcoming Winter update for *Palworld* will be smaller than the recent Feybreak patch. According to Communications Director Bucky, this is because the team is prioritizing the official global launch of the 1.0 version of the game, which will be a significant update with a lot of new content. While they won’t be releasing major updates as frequently as they did with the December 22nd Feybreak patch, they are concentrating efforts on making the 1.0 launch successful.
Most players know the Feybreak update was a huge addition to *Palworld*, adding a new island and important features like research and expeditions. While the Winter update planned for 2025 won’t be as massive, Pocketpair promises it will still have plenty of exciting content for dedicated fans.

Pocketpair has announced that *Palworld* is officially set to fully launch in 2026. The company plans to release version 1.0 next year and promises a much more refined experience than the current Early Access version. According to Communications Director Bucky, *Palworld* has some rough edges right now, and the development team wants to use the time before the official launch to fix these issues. This may mean reducing the amount of content in upcoming updates to ensure the game reaches its full potential.
The game *Palworld* quickly became incredibly popular on Steam, reaching over 2 million players at its peak. While player numbers have since decreased to around 40,000 daily, some former players point to bugs and glitches as the reason for leaving. Others feel the game’s creatures, called Pals, aren’t smart enough, making the gameplay less enjoyable and discouraging long-term engagement. Now that the game has officially launched after being in early access, it has a chance to improve and win back players. While it might not reach its initial peak again, a smoother, more polished version of *Palworld* with new content could attract hundreds of thousands of both new and returning players.
