Paralives Cooking Guide (How to Cook Meals & Unlock More Food Recipes)

As a Paralive fan, I’ve learned my little people need to eat regularly in the game! If you don’t keep them fed, they can actually starve – though thankfully, you can turn that off if you prefer a more relaxed experience.

You can eat out at restaurants or grab pre-made food and drinks in Paralives, but you can also cook! Cooking is particularly useful when you’re starting a family, as a single cooked meal can feed everyone. Here’s a guide to cooking and unlocking new recipes in the game.

How to Cook Meals in Paralives

In Paralives, you can cook meals in two ways: single servings for one person, or larger group meals that can be shared with the whole family.

As a Paralives fan, I’m really excited to hear that cooking is something only teens and older can do in the game! It makes sense – babies, toddlers, and pre-teens will need to be fed by other family members, which adds a lot of realism to the gameplay. It’s a nice touch that emphasizes the life simulation aspect!

Single Portion Meals

To cook food for just one character in Paralives, follow these steps:

  • Click on the fridge (you can find one in any of your houses, town restaurants, or even other residences. Yes, you can use fridges outside your own kitchen for cooking).
  • Choose the “Cook” option.
  • Select any of the available recipes from the list and hit “Meal (Single Portion).”

Now you’ll see an animation of your Para making, sitting down to, and finishing a meal. Keep in mind that preparing each meal costs in-game currency, so it’s a good idea to have a steady job to earn enough to cover the expense.

If you’re missing essential kitchen items like appliances, cabinets, or countertops, you won’t be able to cook. You can purchase these in Build Mode.

Group Portion Meals

Okay, so if you’re like me and have a whole bunch of Paras living in one house – or just a big family in general – here’s how you can cook enough food for everyone at once in Paralives. It’s super helpful!

  • Tap on the fridge in the home (you can still access fridges in random residences or in restaurants, but to feed other family members, you’ll need to move them there as well).
  • Select the “Cook” option.
  • Scroll through the available recipes, pick one, and choose “Meal (Group Portion).”

Once the food is prepared, your character will automatically eat their serving. Other family members, including children, can click on the meal and choose to take a portion. Babies and toddlers eat differently, and you can find more details in our Paralives guide: [link to guide].

If the power goes out and your fridge stops working, you won’t be able to cook. I spent a lot of time trying to fix the power outage in Paralives – searching for outlets, improving my repair skill, and even paying for repair services – only to discover the solution is surprisingly simple: just pay your overdue bills that arrive in the mailbox.

How to Unlock More Food Recipes in Paralives

At first, players (Paras) will only have access to a few recipes. But by improving their cooking skills, they can unlock up to 90 different foods. This is for the early access version of the game, and more recipes may be added later.

You can find more cooking recipes in Paralives by using either of these methods, or both to get the most options.

Find Recipes from the Computer

  • Tap on a computer in your home, another household, the library, or the museum.
  • Select “Browse for new cooking recipes.”

Once the search process ends, your selected Para will learn a new recipe.

This feature requires a home computer setup. To create one, purchase a desk, chair, and computer in Build Mode, and ensure they’re all positioned within the blue highlighted space. Otherwise, the feature won’t become available.

Unlock Recipes from Cooking

Honestly, the best way to find new recipes is just to keep cooking! As you get better at it in Parafolk, you’ll unlock tons of new dishes to try – I’m really excited about the Chocolate Cake, Burrata Salad, and Veggie Burger, just to name a few!

Similar to the previous process, each character learns recipes separately. What one character unlocks, others need to unlock on their own – recipes aren’t shared.

Kitchen appliances like refrigerators and microwaves wear out with frequent use, so it’s important to fix them promptly. Ignoring repairs could lead to a fire and disrupt your Paras’ home life.
