As a devoted fan of Path of Exile, I’m beyond excited for the upcoming 3.25 expansion, Settlers of Kalguur. The depth and complexity of this game never cease to amaze me, and with each new expansion comes innovative changes that keep the experience fresh and engaging.
I’m excitedly counting down the days until the release of Path of Exile‘s 3.25 update with the Settlers of Kalguur challenge league! This newest addition brings a fresh wave of content and gameplay changes that I can’t wait to explore. Just like previous PoE challenge leagues, Settlers of Kalguur introduces innovative mechanics that transform the way we play, all while patch 3.25 rolls out major enhancements to melee combat and introduces a new Warden class, replacing the Raider. The anticipation is building!
Game Rant obtained advanced access to all the new features and updates coming in Settlers of Kalguur, and trust us, there’s a lot to take in. Just like with any other expansion for Path of Exile, Grinding Gear Games advises players to carefully read through the patch notes once they’re released. It may take several days for players to fully grasp the implications of these changes on Path of Exile as a whole.
Players Will Manage a City in Path of Exile’s New Challenge League
The star attraction of this expansion for Settlers of Kalguur is certainly the new challenge league feature, where players establish and oversee their own settlements. Initially, we thought of Final Fantasy 14‘s Island Sanctuary, but growing Kingsmarch is far more interconnected, as every defeated demon on the battlefield adds a tiny piece to the whole. To begin, resources for construction need to be amassed, which are drawn from field nodes defended by specific enemies, like Petrified Amber that summons numerous Blighted creatures. To obtain these resources, players must assign a Worker, linking back to the labor system.
In League gameplay, workers can be obtained by collecting gold from vanquished foes or sourced elsewhere, and each worker possesses unique skills and wage prices that impact their productivity. These laborers operate in real-time yet unobtrusively, functioning much like an idle game as the player explores other aspects of Kingsmarch. The resources amassed by workers can subsequently be employed to construct or enhance structures such as farms, smelters, taverns, and a harbor within Kingsmarch, thereby amplifying worker efficiency or introducing innovative features. Concurrently, Kalguuran Map Devices automatically process queued maps for the player’s convenience, while the Runesmithing Table empowers players to imbue regular items with abilities typically confined to exceptional pieces.
Accumulated resources can be transported to the harbor for exchange with favored ports, as certain ports have a penchant for specific resources. Adventurers can choose to send larger consignments for more substantial gains, but face the possibility of misfortunes leading to lost supplies or casualties among crew members. These shipments yield bountiful rewards of treasure, money, and additional items. Similar to other mechanisms in the Kalguuran League, these transactions unfold in real-time as players carry on with their daily activities.
The Kalguuran League offers additional intriguing aspects, including an asynchronous currency trading system among members, bosses who abduct laborers and can be confronted through combat or bribery, and a noteworthy feature borrowed from “Path of Exile 2” – the option to reset character attributes using gold.
Path of Exile Has Removed a Class, Added a Class, and Reworked Melee
In the latest update 3.25, Grinding Gear Games brings significant modifications, and one noteworthy change is the extensive melee overhaul. Previously dependable Melee Totem Skill Gems have been eliminated as part of the new melee strategy aiming to eliminate passive gameplay. To offset the absence of a substantial passive damage source, almost every melee skill undergoes an enormous damage enhancement. For instance, Heavy Strike’s Attack Damage rises from 313% to 552%, while Sweep increases from 281% to a remarkable 664%.
Melee characters, who must engage in close-combat constantly, receive significant defensive enhancements. Blocking capabilities are strengthened through improved passive abilities, making it simpler to reach the maximum block limit. Furthermore, several Life Leech passives have been enhanced, and Vaal Pact has returned as an exclusive option for melee players, granting instant life leech.
From a passionate fan’s perspective, I’m thrilled about the recent overhaul of Path of Exile’s Gladiator Ascendancy class. The new and improved Gladiator immerses players deeper into the gladiator theme, with a strong focus on dual-wielding weapon combinations. Daggers now grant increased critical chance, while maces amplify our area of effect potential. Moreover, the addition of Retaliation skills adds an extra layer of excitement. For instance, Divine Retribution can be triggered once we successfully block an attack. Overall, this revamp makes Gladiator more versatile and captivating to play, especially with the melee system enhancements.
In the meantime, the Raider class has been eliminated from the game. The developers at Grinding Gear Games believed that the Raider was becoming obsolete since many of its passive skills were already available in other parts of the skill tree. To ensure that each class maintains its unique identity, the Raider has been superseded by the Warden. The Warden is a new class with a focus on elemental attacks and features enhanced versions of abilities such as Shock, Freeze, and Scorch instead of Ignite. Additionally, Wardens can use Tinctures, which resemble the Flasks from the Affliction League. These Tinctures are worn on the belt and can be dropped as magical items, providing a significant boost when used that can be amplified through passive skills.
Path of Exile 3.25 Comes With Quality of Life and Console Improvements
As a console gamer enthusiast of Path of Exile, I’m thrilled to report that this latest update brings significant enhancements tailored just for us. The game now runs smoother with improved loading times, reduced asset pop-in, and fewer texture disappearances in crowded scenes. On current-gen consoles, we can enjoy the highest possible texture resolutions and water effects quality, thanks to upgraded rendering techniques. Additionally, textures now upscale more effectively, and anti-aliasing has been refined for a visually stunning experience.
There have been several enhancements that significantly improve the player experience. For instance, waypoints no longer require interaction for unlocking; they will activate as you approach them. Moreover, mouse and keyboard users can now collect items from greater distances, reducing the monotony of looting. Additionally, upon death, players’ active reservation effects such as Auras and Heralds will be renewed automatically instead of requiring manual activation. Furthermore, an increased number of bosses will display fixed health bars to facilitate better monitoring of their conditions.
As a dedicated gamer of Settlers of Kalguur, I’m thrilled to share that the latest patch is massive in size and scope. We’ve only begun to explore its depths, so it’s essential for players to review the patch notes once they’re released to fully prepare for the game’s launch on July 26th. Although I’m eagerly anticipating Path of Exile 2, it’s fantastic to see that the original game is still getting substantial updates, even incorporating some features from its sequel.
