PC and PS5 Horizon: Zero Dawn Remaster Leaked Through ESRB Rating

PC and PS5 Horizon: Zero Dawn Remaster Leaked Through ESRB Rating

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the rumored remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn for PlayStation 5 and PC doesn’t exactly set my world on fire. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Guerrilla Games and the captivating world they’ve created in this series. However, it seems like a trend among developers under the Sony umbrella to milk their titles dry with remasters and sequels.

The game “Horizon: Zero Dawn” is scheduled to receive a remaster for PlayStation 5 and PC, an announcement that originated from an unconventional source. Specifically, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) posted a T for Teen rating for the title “Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered,” which aligns with the rating and description on the original game.

It’s hardly unexpected that the Horizon: Zero Dawn Remaster is nearly confirmed, given the whispers about it circulating since early 2023.

A week following Sony’s announcement of the PlayStation 5’s release, which is slated for November, the timing suggests that Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered may serve as a marquee game for the costly console update.

The original version of Horizon: Zero Dawn is playable on the PlayStation 5 and PCalready, but it lacks the visual improvementspresentin Horizon: Forbidden West(2022).

There’s Horizon: Zero Need For A Remaster

Apart from the amusement that an A-list game, as rated by the ESRB, brings about, there seems to be a divide in opinions between those who are thrilled and others who express feelings of “remake fatigue.

Just like Guerrilla Games, the most notorious game developer in the current trend operates under Sony’s corporate umbrella. From 2013 to 2024, Naughty Dog has put out five variations of The Last of Us and its sequel, The Last of Us Part II.

Updating a 2017 game for the latest generation enhances its graphical realism using ray tracing technology. For games that strain older hardware, you can usually expect a substantial decrease in loading times and smoother performance.

Gamers are debating if the enhancements in a new AAA title justify the cost, when compared to a visually upgraded edition of the same game. Players have praised 4A Games profusely for offering the Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition remaster at no extra cost to those who already owned the initial release.

We won’t know the complete details about the enhancements in the remastered version of “Horizon: Zero Dawn” until Sony officially announces them, or if another exciting leak occurs first.

Instead, we anticipate this update will primarily focus on visual enhancements, as opposed to significant modifications such as cooperative hunting mechanics, which were considered for the initial launch.

As a gamer, if the kickoff title for the PS5 Pro turns out to be a remastered game, it won’t exactly help shake off the ‘not enough games’ reputation that the console has been earning. For now, fans can already savor the standard version of Horizon: Zero Dawn on the PlayStation 5 and PC instead.
