Steam is well-known for offering free games, and lately, they’ve been providing even more to PC gamers. In recent months, titles like Everyday Devil, Initial Drift Online, and Dreadmyst have been available for free, alongside the weekly free games from the Epic Games Store. This week is especially great, with four games currently available to claim on Steam until January 22nd.
Steam is offering two free games: Crown of Champions: Legends of the Arena and Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman. A competition is also giving away Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness, which is a good way to experience the series before Styx: Blades of Greed comes out in February. Keep in mind that the free games on the Epic Games Store (EGS) change on January 22nd, and will be replaced by Rustler: Grand Theft Horse this week.
Steam Users Have 2 Free Games They Can Claim for Free Until January 22
- Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena
- Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman
This week, Steam is giving away two free games that offer very different experiences, so there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy at least one. Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman is a straightforward but fun game where you create and watch battles between stick figures. It’s a quick experience—you can finish it in about an hour—after which you can try out Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena.
Forget simple stick figures and shooting – Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena is a fantasy role-playing game where you manage and build a school for fighters. It offers a more traditional RPG feel and more complex gameplay than Counter Stickman. The goal is to develop your estate into a renowned combat school, earning a strong reputation as you compete in 12 different arenas. It’s worth noting that while Counter Stickman has mixed reviews on Steam, Crown Champion is receiving very positive feedback.
Epic Games Store Users Have Until January 22 to Claim 2 Free Games
- Styx: Master of Shadows
- Styx: Shards of Darkness
Before the new Styx game arrives in February, players can experience Styx: Master of Shadows and Shards of Darkness. These are stealth-focused RPGs where you play as an aging goblin. Both games offer challenging stealth gameplay, enjoyable exploration, and freedom in how you approach each level. While stealth, thievery, and assassination are central to the experience, each game also includes a variety of other features.
Styx: Master of Shadows Features at a Glance
- Mission areas featuring truly organic player path-finding
- A strong focus on hardcore stealth and infiltration: progress through the shadows with a sense of verticality, and explore to find hidden treasures
- Upgrade your skills along six unique skill trees to improve your stealth, assassination, and technique
- Distract, solve, smother, and prowl with your clone
- An intricate story full of twists and revelations
Styx: Shards of Darkness Features at a Glance
- Play alone in Co-Op
- Explore and master huge open environments, like an Elven City or the territory of the Dwarves
- Sneak past or assassinate new enemies and bosses
- Experiment with the new array of lethal abilities and weapons in our goblin assassin’s arsenal.
- Spend experience points in assassination, infiltration, magic, etc., to learn new skills and abilities.
- Explore the world to recover valuable artifacts
- Find ingredients to craft deadly traps and useful items
- Create clones of yourself to distract and deceive the many types of enemies on your way
Epic Games Store Users Will Get At Least 1 More Free Game on January 22
- Rustler: Grand Theft Horse (January 22-January 29)
Okay, so the free games on the Epic Games Store are changing soon! When Styx leaves, Rustler: Grand Theft Horse is taking its place. Honestly, I’m really excited about that one. It looks like a hilarious take on Grand Theft Auto, but set in a medieval fantasy world – think Dungeons & Dragons meets open-world crime. You basically play as a bit of a rogue, completing crazy quests, causing trouble, and generally being a mischievous outlaw, all with a fun, bard-style soundtrack. It looks like a blast!
