Fans of games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley have a new title to anticipate: Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. Already popular thanks to a Netflix feature since 2024, the game is coming to PC and consoles soon. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently updated, players have even more to enjoy, as Cozy Grove is expected to launch in late 2026.
Launched on PC in April 2021, Cozy Grove quickly reminded players of Animal Crossing, and it’s easy to understand why. The game, created by an independent developer, features a charming, hand-painted style and animations that are clearly inspired by Nintendo’s popular series. Players become a Spirit Scout stranded on a constantly evolving, haunted island, and their job is to explore the forest, collect materials, and craft items requested by the island’s cute, animal-like ghosts.
Cozy Grove Sequel is Coming Soon to PC and Consoles
Spry Fox, the team behind Cozy Grove, was one of the first developers to partner with Netflix for its gaming service. Adding Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit to Netflix’s mobile games helped the series become even more popular. Now, Spry Fox is once again working as an independent studio. They’ve announced plans to release Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit on PC and consoles, in addition to continuing to publish the mobile version through Netflix. The studio is also developing a new game called Spirit Crossing, which will share similar themes with Cozy Grove but will be an online multiplayer experience focused on bringing players together.

While keeping what fans loved, Camp Spirit introduces new activities like power washing, and expands on existing features. Players can now customize their campgrounds even more and travel to multiple islands to help friendly spirits. The game also adds interactive homes for some spirits and the option to adopt more pets.

One of the founders, David Edery, said their big goal for 2026 is to launch a really special cozy game – one that brings people together and helps fight loneliness. It’s cool because even though they’re not getting financial support from Netflix this time around, he’s totally okay with that. He’d rather focus on getting this game out to more players. There’s still work to do though – they’re rebuilding their business, making sure the game is polished and runs smoothly, and getting it ready for other platforms. But I’m really excited about it!
Image via Spry Fox Spry Fox’s founder, Edery, has complicated feelings about Netflix. While he feels their game, Cozy Grove: Spirit Camp, didn’t get the launch it deserved on the platform, he still considers Netflix a good partner as they continue to publish the game on mobile. Regaining independence came at a financial cost: Edery and co-founder Daniel Cook have both significantly reduced their salaries to $20,000, funding the company buyback with their own money, and all 50 developers have experienced pay cuts since the deal last December. Despite industry layoffs, the founders prioritized their team by distributing most of the company’s equity among them, making the future success of Spry Fox even more crucial.
Cozy Game Fans Have More Options Ahead of Spry Fox’s Upcoming Releases
Fans eager for new cozy games have a fun distraction: the 3.0 Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrived a day early on January 14th! This update introduces a hotel managed by Kap’n’s family, the ability to visit Dream Islands, and a simplified crafting experience. It also includes some surprising extras for Animal Crossing, like items from Pocket Camp, easier weed pulling, and improvements to Resident Services and the Nook’s shop.
