Developed by RamoseTsimbina, BigSmile: The Message is a sequel to their earlier game, KryptoUwU. While horror fans might want to play KryptoUwU first (it’s also available for free on itch.io), BigSmile: The Message follows a livestream viewer who sees a crime and hires a hacker to find the perpetrator. Their investigation takes them into the dark corners of the internet, where they encounter even more disturbing events. This 1-bit pixel art visual novel is designed to be genuinely scary, with original music and art, a lot of dialogue, a customizable player name, and randomly generated chat names. Plus, with two different endings, it offers good replay value.

The game Sleep Demon uses a very realistic idea to create a truly frightening experience: sleep paralysis. While many people unfortunately experience this condition in real life, those who haven’t are likely to be genuinely scared. The developers at Ravenhome drew from their own personal experiences with sleep paralysis to make the game both compelling and accurate. As a walking simulator, Sleep Demon challenges players to survive several stages of a nightmare in order to escape. Here are some of the game’s features:
