This bundle includes the original three games that launched the series, plus a bonus adventure called Jack in the Dark. The first game, released in 1992, is considered a pioneer of the survival horror genre. Even though all three games are over 30 years old, they still get good reviews on platforms like Steam and GOG.
Why Survival Horror Fans Should Play Alone in the Dark
Okay, so everyone knows Resident Evil really blew up the survival horror scene, right? But honestly, Alone in the Dark was doing a lot of that groundwork first. I read that Shinji Mikami, the guy who made Resident Evil, actually said the original Alone in the Dark from ’92 was basically the template for his whole series. It’s kinda crazy to think how much of an impact that older game had on everything we love now!
The series hasn’t been as successful lately. The 2024 reboot of Alone in the Dark didn’t sell well, which played a part in the studio that made it, Pieces Interactive, having to close down. That makes this sale on GOG particularly great – it’s a chance for horror fans to enjoy classic games before newer titles take over and they’re lost to time.

What makes the Alone in the Dark trilogy special is how each game confidently expands on what came before. Though they all take place in the same world with recurring characters, each installment offers a surprising story and a different style of gameplay. The first game focuses on Lovecraftian horror, with lots of puzzles and a slow, suspenseful feel. The second game is much more action-packed, with a strong emphasis on shooting. And the third game tries to strike a balance between action, adventure, and unraveling a mystery.
