As a long-time devotee of the Persona series, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing the news that Kotone Shiomi, or FeMC as she’s affectionately known by fans, won’t be gracing our screens in Persona 3 Reload.

As a devoted fan of the heroine from Persona 3 Portable, known by many as FeMC, I was eagerly anticipating her return in Persona 3 Reload. However, it seems Atlus has other plans and she won’t be joining the game this time around. Kotone Shiomi is the character’s official name, but to the community, she’ll always be FeMC. It’s a bit disheartening, especially since Persona 3 Reload seemed like the ideal platform for her return, preferably as a playable character.

For years now, supporters of the franchise have eagerly anticipated the possibility of the female protagonist gracing the screens of Persona 3 Reload. This is largely due to the belief that the game serves as an ideal platform for bringing to life a remake of their cherished classic. Given the meticulous nature of this reboot, it seems only fitting to incorporate as many treasured elements from the Persona 3 universe as possible. A fervent group of fans championing the character known as FeMC have been vocal in their desire to see her included in the remake. And now, producer Kazuhisa Wada has addressed this issue.

As reported by PC Gamer, Persona series producer Kazuhisa Wada has publicly announced that it is unlikely the game will feature a female protagonist. In an interview with Game Informer prior to its closure, Wada discussed the possibility of introducing the Female MC (FeMC). He explained that from a financial perspective, the development time and costs would have been unimaginable for Atlus, making it infeasible. Wada extended his apologies to fans who had been anticipating updates regarding FeMC.

Persona 3 Reload Producer Apologizes To FeMC Fans

Ever since her debut, the Female Protagonist (FeMC) has garnered significant attention, and numerous Persona enthusiasts believe that this buzz is well-deserved. One of the standout features of Persona 3 Portable, the PlayStation Portable version of the game, is the inclusion of FeMC. She allows players to modify several storylines and even change the game’s music. For a multitude of fans, the addition of FeMC was essential for this remake, as she increased the game’s replay value and added layers of complexity to the overall experience.

If the fans can’t have the FeMC in the Persona 3 Reload officially, they’ll take matters into their own hands. Players banded together to create the FeMC Reloaded Project, which swaps out the protagonist’s character model and tweaks UI elements, envisioning a Reload version featuring many elements from FeMC’s side of Persona 3 Portable. It seems that for now, players who want an official Persona game with a female protagonist will have to go back to Persona 2, Persona 3 Portable, or simply hope that Persona 6 features one in the future.
