The next game in Atlus’s plan to remake older titles will be *Persona 4 Revival*. This follows the release of *Persona 3 Reload* earlier in 2024. Atlus frequently updates and re-releases their role-playing games, as they’ve done with titles like *Persona 5 Royal*, *Persona 3 Portable*, and the recently remastered *RAIDOU Remastered: Mystery of the Soulless Army*.
Similar to *Persona 3 Reload*, *Persona 4 Revival* is a complete remake of the beloved JRPG. It will boast updated graphics, a modern camera style, fresh voice acting, and likely include significant new gameplay and story elements. This is a major release that’s sure to excite *Persona* fans. While *Persona 4 Revival* has the potential to continue the series’ success, recent news about when it will be released has tempered some of that excitement.
While a modernized version, *Persona 4 Revival*, is coming soon, the already existing *Persona 4 Golden* (released in 2012) is available on many platforms. However, *Golden* is more of an enhanced re-release than a completely rebuilt game.
Persona 4 Revival Might Miss Persona’s 30th Anniversary

Persona 4 Revival Would Have Been Persona’s Best 30-Year Birthday Present
Released in 1996, *Revelations: Persona* launched the popular *Persona* franchise and built upon Atlus’s earlier *Megaten* games. Now, almost thirty years later, *Persona* is considered one of the most creative and impactful JRPG series, consistently pushing boundaries with style and passion. Atlus recognizes this success, and P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada has announced the company’s goal to make 2026 an exceptional year for *Persona* fans.

Wada’s recent comments are a bit unclear, but his main point is that he wants the 30th anniversary of the *Persona* series to be a big event. Celebrating such a milestone for this popular franchise makes sense. However, *Persona 4 Revival* likely won’t be part of those celebrations. Sega has indicated it won’t be released until 2027 or later. While it *could* potentially launch as early as April 2026, the lack of any real news beyond a short demo suggests that’s unlikely. This is understandably a bit frustrating for fans, but it also hints that something even more exciting might be coming soon.
With Persona 4 Revival Looking Unlikely in 2026, Persona 6 Should Slither In
As a huge Persona fan, I’m still hoping to see *Persona 4 Revival* come out in 2026, but honestly, it feels like a long shot. Even if it *did* make it out next year, it wouldn’t be the most exciting way to celebrate Persona’s 30th anniversary, would it? Don’t get me wrong, *Persona 4* is amazing, but it’s still just a remake. What we *really* need is Atlus and Sega to announce *Persona 6* – that would be a celebration worthy of the occasion!

Atlus hasn’t said anything about *Persona 6* for a long time, and an announcement would be a welcome surprise. Many fans would prefer a brand-new game to celebrate the series’ anniversary instead of another remake. However, it’s unlikely, so we can only hope Atlus has something special planned for the 30-year milestone.
