Players venturing into the Metaverse of Persona 5: The Phantom X will face their initial significant test at Kiuchi Palace. For those aiming to secure the game’s 100% completion bonuses, this endeavor could prove even more demanding.
For those seeking the location of all Fan Cards, Treasure Chests, Memory Shards, and solutions to the numerous puzzles within this ‘dungeon,’ I recommend checking out this guide, which provides a wealth of helpful tips on overcoming the diverse obstacles found in Kiuchi Palace.
Basic Mechanics In Kiuchi Palace
The Kiuchi Palace is filled with a variety of traps, brain-teasing puzzles, and navigation challenges that players must grasp before attempting an exploration. Among these puzzles, some employ the use of pressure plates, and players are tasked with moving Pitching Machines (a term for Baseball Spitting Devices) to activate these pressure plates or aim at target switches.
During battles, players might find opportunities for surprise attacks, providing a tactical edge (Ambush Opportunities). However, not every enemy can be caught off guard since some remain stationary. These enemies are strategically positioned to safeguard valuable treasures, control points, or passageways between areas.
Items that can be broken yield Konpaku Gems, and these objects can be identified with the Sight ability (Q on a PC). This skill not only marks breakable objects but also outlines puzzle solutions, hidden messages, and other visual cues essential for navigating the Palace effectively.
One important detail to remember is that players will need to open specific doors by using Color Baseball Balls and Fan Cards. The Fan Cards can be discovered during breaks (scenes) between the storyline following Kiuchi Palace infiltration and events unfolding outside the Metaverse (real world).
All Types Of Puzzles In Kiuchi Palace & How To Solve Them
The puzzles within Kiuchi Palace aren’t particularly challenging, mainly involving a modest amount of keen observation. To help you along, here’s a brief tutorial for solving each kind of puzzle encountered within the palace:
Or in a more conversational style:
Inside Kiuchi Palace, the puzzles aren’t too tough – just need a bit of careful looking. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide on how to tackle each type of puzzle you might stumble upon:
This way, the information is presented in a friendlier and more approachable manner while still maintaining its clarity and conciseness.
- Display Case Puzzles: They appear in rooms with lots of mementos kept under lock in crystal cases, with a small tactile screen in front. They require the use of the Third Eye to discover which are the mementos that need to be activated in order (by touching the screens) to open the door.
- Pressure Plate Puzzles: Moving Ball Pitching Machines and putting them on switches. Pretty straightforward. The more complex of them require players to check players’ positions in bases (like in Baseball) and place the crates or machines in the correct positions.
- Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzles: Doors will have a code representing certain Hand Gestures (Thumbs up, Left, Right, Down), and players need to activate the Thumb-switches in order to open them.
- Disco floor pattern puzzle: Activated by walking on the correct tiles. Some of them require following a circuit evading the Pitcher spiky gloves, and reaching the flag representing the Base.
- Moving Platform Puzzles: Players need to move through certain platforms, and sometimes, move Ball Pitching machines to shoot at Targets and activate the switches.
- Baseball Ball Doors: Not actually puzzles, but doors that need to be unlocked by finding Gold, Blue, and Pink Balls. Some might require various of these.
- TV Screen Projection Puzzle: It appears in only one room in the Exhibition hall, players need to press the touchscreen in the middle when the Kiuichi Symbol (K) is displayed until all of them display the symbol.
Kiuchi Palace Walkthrough
At the onset of Infiltration, players must acquire the Grappling Hook, a tool they can fabricate at their home workshops. With the Grappling Hook prepared, they’re free to commence infiltrating Kuichi Palace. The initial area to delve into is the 1F Exhibition Hall, an easy-to-navigate location offering low-complexity puzzles (although it’s advisable for players to glance over the Puzzle Section above to get a feel for each puzzle type). This area features a linear path that leads to the first cutscene, where you’ll encounter Kiuchi’s minions, engage in battle, and eventually advance to 2F Exhibition Hall by traversing the Central Zone of the Exhibition Hall.
Players are about to reach a point where they can’t progress further, followed by a brief interlude (or pause) in the gameplay. Don’t worry, this is typical during Palace exploration, and it will happen multiple times before encountering the Boss. During these pauses, you may find additional activities outside the Metaverse, as well as side quests to enhance Wonder. So, be patient and stick with the main storyline. In the initial intermission, Lufel and Wonder are going back to prepare more, also picking up the Fan Card Tier C from the Control Room on the 2nd Floor of Exhibition Hall.
Following Motoha Arai’s addition to the team, the expedition grows a tad more intricate. New hazards emerge (primarily traps that shoot balls and those resembling baseball gloves), and adversaries must be vanquished en route. Our next destination is the Central Exhibition Hall, where players will encounter a conundrum demanding the defeat of a formidable shadow. Once subdued, this shadow will whisper a code (3…1…3…2…0). If players engage their Third Eye, they’ll notice a string of Display Cases filled with Baseballs. The task is to activate the one containing 3 balls, then the one containing 1 ball, and again the one containing 3, followed by the one containing 2 balls, and finally the one that’s empty.
Players should take the elevator ride up to access the Southern Rooftop, and then navigate through this area to get to the Training Hall. In this new zone, players will encounter Ball Pitching Machines that can potentially harm them if they get hit by the balls, so stay alert. During this journey within the Palace, players must obtain the B Fan Card by reaching the locker room on the other side of the building. The route is quite lengthy, so expect to encounter some tough enemies along the way.
Following the cutscene, players can rewind slightly and access a fresh location. The second elevator’s activation marks the path towards the “Northern Rooftop,” which is connected to “Club 1F.” Upon entry, players will observe that the scenery has undergone substantial changes: Fresh puzzles such as the “Pitcher Hand Gesture” and “Disco Floor Pattern” now stand as obstacles to overcome. Players should also keep an eye out for any Chests and Memory Shards they encounter, as collecting these items will help them achieve a minimum level of completion before delving deeper into each zone for more thorough exploration.
The Club spans across three levels, with each level connected via passages, stairs, and air ducts. In your initial playthrough of Kiuchi Palace, you’ll find the “A Fan Card” in a private-like room on the second floor of the Club. To get there, you must first tackle the main puzzle in the Dance Floor (located on the ground floor) to access the stairs that ascend to 2F. Begin by resolving the Pitcher Hand Gesture riddles and disabling the Electrical Switches to unlock the second floor.
After successfully navigating through Club 2F, solving all its mysteries, players will acquire a Key shaped like a Pink Ball. They must then retrace their steps to the Dance Floor (Club 1F), confronting some adversaries along the journey. By doing so, they can ascend to the 3F via the door connected to the stairway, thereby unlocking the path to the final zone: the Central Playfield. Following a cinematic sequence, players will be instructed to return to the Real World to issue a Challenge Card, which summons the boss Kiuchi. Subsequently, teleport back to the Safe Zone of the Central Playfield and enter the Vault to confront the boss head-on.
How To Beat Kiuchi Palace Boss Cupid
Initially, players encounter Kiuchi in a form resembling a human, which is generally simpler to overcome. Following his defeat, Kiuchi transforms into Cupid, revealing his true self. Cupid is larger and tougher, promising a more challenging battle that unfolds across three distinct stages. To emerge victorious, players must best him on three separate occasions (four times in total if you count defeating Kiuchi’s human shadow form), with each phase featuring unique strategies for success.
To start off, Cupid selects one member from the group. This chosen individual must be prepared to shield themselves as Cupid readies to launch an intense assault, causing considerable harm.
During the second round, Cupid summons two pesky angels onto the battlefield, who seem to be a nuisance and must be defeated first for us players to inflict enough damage on the boss to push him into the decisive third phase.
In the third stage, Cupid summons two shadow cheerleaders to boost his strength. This results in a massive assault that could wipe out the entire squad. However, the players must counter these cheerleaders to subdue Cupid, stun him, and inflict more damage. This cycle continues until the boss is defeated. Following the scene, the Palace will crumble, but don’t fret because you can return later for a complete run through.
Fan Card Locations
To achieve a full completion of Kiuchi Palace, players should be mindful of some key factors, including a particular item unique to this dungeon: Fan Cards. These cards function as access keys, allowing passage through closed doors and granting entry to the treasures and secret bosses in each zone.
Fan Cards progress from Rank C, through B, and ultimately to S. The infiltration of Kiuchi Palace consists of three pauses, or interludes, followed by a Final Enemy, known as the “Boss” (Cupid). Each interlude awards one card starting with C, eventually reaching A. The A-tier Fan Card offers entry to Club Floor 3 within Kiuchi Palace and access to the Boss. After defeating the boss, players can return to the palace via the “Recollections” option under the “Metaverse” menu to achieve a 100% completion rate.
The Fan Cards move from Rank C, then to B, and finally S. The infiltration of Kiuchi Palace includes three breaks, or pauses, and an ultimate adversary called the “Boss” (Cupid). Each break rewards one card starting with C, eventually reaching A. The A-rank Fan Card provides access to Club Floor 3 within Kiuchi Palace as well as the Boss. After overcoming the boss, players can reenter the palace through the “Recollections” option in the “Metaverse” menu to achieve a full completion.
Once they reach that stage, the elite fan card, known as the S Tier Fan Card, will be unlocked. This will grant players entry to the remaining areas within the Palace. To acquire the S Tier Fan Card, players must retrace their steps back to Club 3F, which is located on the opposite side of where they initially entered the Central Field. After that, they can navigate through the Air Ducts to create a route leading to the VIP Room, situated in the northernmost part of the Third Floor.
Completing Kiuchi Palace to a full 100% isn’t achievable for players until they defeat the Boss and acquire the Treasure.
All Completion Rewards

As a devoted player, I’d like to guide you on how to collect your hard-earned rewards within the Palace. Simply navigate to the ‘Map Menu’ while you’re nestled within its grand halls. These rewards become available every time 10% of the Palace is successfully completed, with a maximum accumulation of 100%. Even after vanquishing the formidable Palace Boss, you can still claim your rewards when revisiting through the ‘Recollections Menu.’ Enjoy your spoils!

How to Complete 100% Kiuchi Palace

Before fully completing Kiuichi Palace, it’s crucial to note that players can’t achieve a perfect completion unless they defeat the Palace Boss (Cupid). After defeating the boss, the Palace will vanish, but players can revisit it via the Chamber of Recollections in the Metaverse Tab. Another key point is that checking the Completion Rewards menu within the Map window helps keep tabs on progress, and each area has its own progress chart, which is another useful addition.
At Kiuchi Palace, breakable items aren’t necessary to meet the completion criteria, yet they yield Konpaku gems upon breaking. It’s suggested that players gather them regardless for an increased supply of this in-game currency.
As a savvy gamer exploring Kiuchi Palace, these references will be your guide to uncovering every chest, boss, and hidden treasure. Keep an eye out for images in each area to help you find the collectibles necessary to claim all the prizes and achieve a perfect 100% completion.
- Purple: Chest
- Red: Sub-Boss Shadow
- Green: Safe Room
- Blue: Puzzle
- Yellow: Baseball Location
Exhibition Hall 1F

- Contains: 25 Chests, 3 Sub-Bosses (Strong Shadows), a main puzzle in the Central Exhibition Hall (the solution is in the walkthrough guide above) with a Memory Shard next to it, and a Display Case Puzzle on the western side of the floor. Players need to watch the shadow guarding the valuables or kill it and use the Third Eye to spot the footprints in the rug, then activate the display cases in the correct order. Some of the chests might require Lockpicks, so make sure to bring at least 18 of them to open all chests.
Exhibition Hall 2F

- Contains: 1 Sub-Boss, 1 Chest (Locked), Tier C Fan Card. A Pretty easy to complete map, the only detail to keep in mind is that the Strong Enemy becomes available when players return to this place after leaving for the Real World. So come back later to face the Strong Shadow and clear that from the Completion chart. Don’t forget to grab the locked chest in the corner of the room.
Training Hall

- Contains: 33 Chests, 3 Memory Shards(used to watch Thief’s Memories), 4 Sub-Bosses, and several annoying puzzles to solve, like the Baseball Field ‘Home Run Puzzle’ which requires players to check the screen for the position of the players at the bases, and replicate the play using boxes that can be pushed over pressure plates. Sub-Bosses here are not as hard as the ones found in the Club area, so players around level 20 can still take them down.
Club 1F

- Contains: 16 Chests (Locked ones), 1 Main Puzzle, 3 Sub- bosses, various Disco Floor Puzzles, and Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzles, 4 Baseball Ball Keys (marked in Yellow), the last of which can only be accessed after players acquire the A Fan Card, and deactivate the Electric Barrier in the Central Dance Floor.
Club 2F

- Contains: 23 Chests, 3 Sub-bosses, A Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzle, and a Disco Floor Puzzle. Lastly, there are three Baseball Ball Keys to be collected, which will help with opening one of the Golden Lock doors (marked in Yellow). Make sure to bring at least one Lockpick, as the chest in one of the east-wing rooms is closed.
Club 3F
- Contains: 12 Chests (1 under lock), 2 Baseball Keys, 2 Sub-Bosses, and 3 main puzzles, one of which requires players to examine a panel in the north eastern electric room using the Third Eye, to figure out the 4 possible combinations to open certain doors through a Pitcher Hand Sign Puzzle.
If a player gathers every chest, memory fragment, and conquers each boss encounter, they’ll achieve 100% completion, thereby unlocking the ultimate prizes hidden within Kiuchi Palace for Persona 5: The Phantom X.
