Summary
- The rumored Persona 4 remake is reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.
- A recent p4re.jp domain registration prompted speculation that the Persona 4 remake is closer than some early 2024 leaks suggested.
- The last two Persona titles reached Xbox Game Pass on day one, but the last two Atlus games didn’t.
It’s rumored that the remake of “Persona 4” is indeed genuine and set to debut on Xbox Game Pass from its launch day, as claimed by a Microsoft insider. This same source hints that Atlus’s revamped rendition of “Persona 4” might be nearer than initially thought.
There have been whispers on the internet since early 2024 about a possible remake of the game “Persona 4” being developed. This chatter started around the same time as the highly successful release of “Persona 3 Reload,” which has since become Atlus’s best-selling title, a position it previously held until the success of “Metaphor: ReFantazio.” However, while many leakers suggested that such a project was in existence, no one at the time believed it would come to fruition anytime soon.
By the end of March 2025, popular Spanish YouTuber Extas1s hinted that a remake of the game “Persona 4” could be imminent, stating it would be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. His announcement came a day after someone registered the domain p4re.jp in Japan, fueling speculation about the potential development of a “Persona 4” remake. It’s important to note that p3re.jp is the official Japanese website for “Persona 3 Reload.” However, Extas1s referred to this rumored remake as “Persona 4 Reload,” although it’s unlikely that will be its official title, as the term “reload” is closely linked to “Persona 3” due to Evokers—weapons used for summoning Personas—which have no connection to any other game in the series.
Several Persona Titles Have Already Come to Xbox Game Pass on Day One
In a groundbreaking move for the series, Persona 5 Tactics was the initial installment to launch simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass in November 2023. This was followed by the release of Persona 3 Reload in February 2024. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate were surprised with the P3R Expansion Pass at no additional cost. Those who claimed this free gift found it linked to their Microsoft account, ensuring they could keep it even if their Xbox Game Pass membership expired. However, Atlus’s more recent games, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance and Metaphor: ReFantazio, did not debut on Xbox Game Pass. Previously available on the service were Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal, but these titles have since been withdrawn, along with P5 Tactics and P3R.
It’s worth noting that the domain p3re.jp was registered around three months prior to the announcement of “Persona 3 Reload.” The recent registration of p4re.jp leads one to speculate that a remake of “Persona 4” might be on the verge of being unveiled. However, this assumption conflicts with previous reports suggesting the project was barely started as of early 2024.
Based on responses to this update on social media, numerous passionate fans seem to believe that the release of the Persona 4 remake is coming too soon, and they are more interested in discovering what’s taking place with the upcoming original installment in the series. Atlus announced the development of Persona 6 as far back as July 2021, but since then, they have kept quiet about the project, revealing no further information.
