Kinetic Games, the creators of Phasmophobia, is starting a new publishing label to help independent game developers. They’ll offer services like legal support and marketing assistance.
Named Kinetic Publishing, the company was created to offer the kind of support that Kinetic Games CEO Daniel Knight needed when he first launched their popular horror game in 2020. Since then, Kinetic Games has expanded from a one-person operation to a team of over 30 people.
The Vision Behind Kinetic Publishing
Knight announced the company’s expansion in a press release, explaining that they are now able to assist other studios. He added that he plans to offer the kind of help he wished he’d had access to in the past, drawing on his own experience.
Indie game development is really thriving right now. Over the past five years, we’ve learned a ton, and as our company has grown, we’re now able to help other new studios – providing the kind of support we wish we’d had when we were just starting out.
Five experienced leaders from Kinetic will lead the new Kinetic Publishing team, each focusing on their specific area of knowledge. Asim Tanvir, Kinetic’s Director of Marketing and Partnerships, recently told Game Developer that developers hoping to work with the publishing branch should be genuine, showcase their best work, and clearly explain what makes their game special.
