Phasmophobia: Every Tarot Card (& What They Do)

In the game Phasmophobia, Tarot Cards are one of seven Cursed Items. This item consists of 10 cards, each with a different effect that can unexpectedly and dangerously change the game for you, your team, and the ghost itself. Because Tarot Cards are rare and there are ten to find and use, many players want to understand what each card does in Phasmophobia.

Tarot card decks have 10 cards per set, and understanding what each card means – and how it might impact the game – is crucial. It could literally be the difference between winning and losing! Just be aware that drawing cards is completely random, so even a card that seems dangerous might be worth the risk.

How Do Tarot Cards Work In Phasmophobia?

Phasmophobia features 10 Tarot Cards, but the cards you receive are randomized – it’s not the full set of Tarot Cards in the game. Each deck of 10 cards is determined by chance, and players can check a guide to see how rare each card is and what it does.

Death

When the Death card appears, it will be marked with a purple flame, and there’s a 10% chance of drawing it. If you activate a Death card, a ‘cursed hunt’ begins – you’ll need to quickly find a safe hiding place from the ghost attached to that contract. This hunt lasts for 60 seconds.

The Devil

Okay, so The Devil card… wow, it looks intimidating, with this really unsettling pink glow. And honestly, it feels that way when you play it too! It’s got a 10% chance of being drawn, which means you’ll see it come up fairly often. The really spooky part? When you do pull The Devil, it starts a Ghost Event targeting the player closest to you. Talk about a jump scare – it could even kick off a full-blown hunt! It’s definitely a card that keeps you on edge.

The Fool

There’s a 17% chance of drawing The Fool card. This card appears as a trickster, often misleading players. When a card is drawn, it might initially seem undesirable, but then a light purple flame will reveal it was actually The Fool in disguise all along. The Fool card itself doesn’t have any effect – it’s just meant to be a surprise. If you’re trying to avoid The Fool, you have a 100% chance of getting it while drawing a card during a hunt, so it’s best to wait until the hunt is over.

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man is the most dangerous Tarot card in Phasmophobia. It’s incredibly rare, with only a 1% chance of being drawn. If you get it, prepare for instant death – the ghost will kill your character immediately. Unlike other cards, there’s no flame color warning; instead, demonic hands will appear over your face and snap your neck, even if a hunt isn’t happening. There’s no way to escape The Hanged Man, so players simply have to accept the small chance of drawing it.

The Hermit

The Hermit card has a distinctive cyan glow and can be a helpful tool when drawn. It instantly sends the ghost back to the ghost room, trapping it there for one minute – effectively forcing a wandering ghost to return to its starting location. However, The Hermit won’t work during a ghost event or a ghost hunt, and it only has a 10% chance of being drawn.

The High Priestess

The High Priestess is the second-most difficult Tarot Card to find in Phasmophobia. It only has a 2% chance of being drawn, but it’s considered by many to be the best card in the game because of its strong effect. When activated, The High Priestess glows a pale yellow and will bring a deceased player back to life. If no one is currently dead, it will revive the next player who dies, giving the team a valuable second chance.

The Moon

Players will likely avoid drawing this white-colored card. The Moon only has a 5% chance of being drawn, and it’s detrimental because it immediately reduces a player’s Sanity to 0%. This leaves them extremely vulnerable during ghost hunts and can even make certain ghosts more powerful.

The Sun

Okay, so if The Moon messes with your head, The Sun is the total opposite! Pulling this card instantly restores 100% of my Sanity – and the best part? I don’t even need to use up any Sanity Pills! That’s super helpful because it keeps the ghost from being able to hunt me when I’m already feeling pretty good. It’s a yellow card, and I’ve got a 5% chance of drawing it, which isn’t bad at all.

The Tower

The Tower card has a 20% chance of appearing, and when it does, it glows blue. While helpful for investigating, it’s a fairly common card that triggers a ghost interaction and increases ghost activity for 20 seconds. This extra activity can help you gather more clues and figure out what type of ghost you’re dealing with in Phasmophobia.

The Wheel Of Fortune

The Wheel of Fortune is a frequently encountered Tarot Card in Phasmophobia. It has a 20% chance of being drawn and is unique because it has two possible effects. Drawing this card can either increase your Sanity by 25% or decrease it by 25%. A green burn indicates a Sanity gain, while a red burn means you’ve lost Sanity.
