Phasmophobia Teases When It May Finally Leave Early Access

It’s been hinted that the horror game Phasmophobia, which initially came out in early access in September 2020, might reach its full Version 1.0 release by the year 2026. Since then, the developers at Kinetic Games have consistently released updates and even console ports to refine the game and add more content.

Phasmophobia is a widely played cooperative horror game online where teams of four work together to explore supposedly haunted sites. This game has gained immense popularity ever since its early access launch, with more than 25 million copies already sold.

When Will Phasmophobia Leave Early Access?

In simpler terms, Corey J. Dixion, art director at Kinetic Games, shared with IGN that the team has already mapped out plans for Phasmophobia’s 1.0 release, which they consider to be around the same time as their Horror 2.0 update, marking the title as fully featured. The Horror 2.0 update is expected to roll out in 2026, suggesting a potential release window for the 1.0 version. However, the developers are still aiming to incorporate new maps and improve certain areas before then, although these changes might not be as substantial as those scheduled for next year.

The upcoming Horror 2.0 update for Phasmophobia is set to be a significant shift in the game’s direction. The developers have hinted that it will bring transformative changes, effectively making the game feel like an entirely new experience. While many aspects of the update are still shrouded in secrecy, the developers are intentionally keeping some details under wraps to create excitement among fans.

Recently, Phasmophobia was updated with a new patch. This update introduced three new types of recordable video evidence, along with several other significant modifications. For instance, it now displays map names when navigating through available multiplayer rooms, and provides audio and visual indicators upon completion of recording sessions. Additionally, the update incorporated numerous fixes across various game components.

Lately, the game Phasmophobia has unveiled a rework of Grafton Farmhouse. The renovations to this traditional setting encompass elements like “flawed wiring, collapsed ceilings, and thick layers of dust.” Additionally, players can now venture into freshly designed themed areas within the map such as a spooky attic and a sewing room. Here’s hoping these updates resonate with fans, maintaining the positive momentum for Phasmophobia in 2025 and keeping players eager for the arrival of Horror 2.0.
