Phil Spencer Hints at Secret Xbox Games Coming in 2025—Big Reveals Imminent!

Summary

  • Xbox may have more unannounced games planned for release before 2025, hinted by Phil Spencer‘s recent comments.
  • Game Pass has seen major releases like Avowed and South of Midnight, with more reveals potentially on the way.
  • Spencer also discussed future IP adaptations and Microsoft’s relationship with Nintendo ahead of the Switch 2’s launch.

It seems that Xbox may yet have some significant, as-yet unrevealed titles slated for release by the close of 2025, according to Phil Spencer’s latest remarks. As the head of Microsoft Gaming, Spencer has been rather coy about disclosing specific details, but his restraint might hint at an abundance of unannounced games headed for Xbox platforms in the short term.

Recently, Xbox and particularly its Game Pass subscription service have been quite bustling, delivering highly anticipated games to subscribers right on their release dates. Kicking off in mid-February with the day-one Game Pass title Avowed, there have been three other significant launches added to Game Pass since then. It’s possible that Xbox might unveil even more exciting announcements shortly.

In a recent chat with Variety, Spencer was asked about the games he’s eagerly anticipating before the year wraps up. He first spoke highly of the anticipated action-RPG, “Avowed,” commending Obsidian for its success. He also praised another Game Pass game, “South of Midnight,” which hadn’t been released yet when the interview took place. Additionally, he mentioned upcoming titles such as “Doom: The Dark Ages” and “The Outer Worlds 2,” developed by Obsidian. However, he seemed hesitant to reveal more, suggesting there might be unannounced releases coming for Xbox in 2025.

Phil Spencer Nearly Leaks Unannounced Xbox Games

In the build-up to the release of Minecraft: The Movie on April 4, I had an interesting chat with someone about it. We mainly talked about this upcoming flick, but he also gave some insights into Microsoft’s plans for bringing video game intellectual properties (IPs) to both the big screen and streaming platforms.

Even though shows like Fallout are doing well in live-action adaptations, he stressed that the gaming industry thrives independently. If someone wants to reimagine a Microsoft Gaming IP into another format, they need to grasp the product’s essence and collaborate closely with its creators.

However, don’t expect Microsoft to spearhead the creation of film or TV adaptations anytime soon.

Beyond discussing Xbox specifically, Spencer also highlighted the collaborative business connection between Microsoft and Nintendo. Given the recent unveiling of the Switch 2 Direct, he reaffirmed his stance on partnering with Nintendo to cater to gamers who don’t own Xbox consoles or computers. Spencer appears confident about competition with the Switch 2, albeit refraining from disclosing any current joint projects. However, hinting at ongoing negotiations, he expressed confidence in Microsoft’s future plans.
