GFA Games has shared its plans for the future of PIONER, an online multiplayer game set in a post-apocalyptic world, after its early access launch on December 16th. The game is starting to gain attention for its promising potential and ongoing development.
So, GFA Games is a brand new team, and this is their first game! Their recent roadmap looks really promising for the near future, though it’s hard to say what things will look like long-term right now. I’m excited to see where they go with it!
What’s Coming to PIONER in 2026?
GFA Games shared a plan on social media outlining their future updates for the game PIONER.
PIONER, currently in early access since December 16th, immerses players in a harsh, open-world island inspired by the STALKER series. This Soviet-era setting has been devastated by disasters, strange anomalies, and warring groups. Despite still being in development, the game is surprisingly well-optimized and offers a lot to discover and explore.
We’re thrilled to share our plans for PIONER’s Early Access release in the first quarter of 2026. Here’s what you can look forward to: a special New Year event with unique items, plus new story missions, challenging raids, player-versus-player maps, and other exciting content.

In March, the game will get a ‘big update’, the team has teased.
PIONER is surprisingly impressive, considering it’s made by a small team and just launched. While it draws inspiration from other games, it offers a fresh and engaging experience with plenty to explore and enjoy.
Steam reviews are currently mixed, based on about 1,000 reviews so far. Many positive reviewers point out that the game is still in early access and isn’t finished, which is the main issue raised by those with negative reviews.
