Q: What drew you to the farming sim genre?
In Pixelshire, I’ve taken inspiration from cherished games such as Littlewood, Stardew Valley, and Animal Crossing, seamlessly combining their most appealing aspects with my unique twist to offer a warm and thrilling journey for the players.
Q: What makes the game stand out from other cozy farming games?
To be upfront, my intention wasn’t to revolutionize the genre or introduce an unprecedented element, but rather to blend successful mechanics from games I admire into a single, harmonious, and entertaining gameplay experience. I believe it’s this approach that sets Pixelshire apart. Among its appealing aspects are the terrain manipulation feature, which empowers players to sculpt the landscape and craft a uniquely personalized town, and “Buddy Mode,” where NPC companions can lend a hand with tasks such as farming or resource gathering. For instance, if you’ve cultivated a bond with the logger, he could team up with you in chopping down trees.

In Pixelshire, you’ll encounter an array of lively non-player characters, each with their distinct traits, missions, and narratives. You’ll get to know Margarita, a kindhearted farmer; Bron, a diligent dwarf miner; Eva, the enthusiastic mayor; and my personal favorite, Captain Farrell, who I believe you’ll also grow fond of.

The “Buddy Mode” feature encourages a stronger feeling of involvement and camaraderie. Performing daily tasks becomes more enjoyable when you have a non-player character (NPC) ally. These NPCs are versatile and interactive – they move independently, adjust to terrain modifications, and modify their actions according to the development of your town structure.
Q: Are there any limitations on the Follow Me mechanic, such as friendship levels or schedules?
Absolutely! In my gaming experience, I’ve found that characters become more helpful when there’s a certain level of camaraderie between us. It’s like in real life, you know? Sometimes, NPCs are unreachable during the night hours, and certain locations might restrict them from joining me on my journey.

Arcadia is a recently found island continent within a broader world that holds many secrets and remains largely uncharted. It’s divided into various regions, each showcasing unique environments – ranging from magical forests and deserts to frozen tundras.

Q: Why was terraforming and town customization a priority for you?
I’ve had a long-standing fondness for games where players can create and personalize their gaming worlds. This freedom to customize encourages a deeper emotional bond between the player and the game. In Pixelshire, terraforming offers each player an opportunity to uniquely mold the world, making it truly their own.
The Road to Pixelshire’s Release
Q: What does the road to release day look like?
Currently, our main priority is perfecting the game, ironing out glitches, and guaranteeing a seamless experience upon its debut. As we near the launch, there’s a blend of tension, eagerness, and weariness; however, it’s all par for the course on this creative adventure.
Q: Are there plans for a post-release roadmap?
Absolutely, I had numerous concepts I wished to incorporate in the first version, but squeezing everything in would have pushed back the game’s release by years, and even then, I might not have been fully content. Some elements that are still in the idea or trial phase will be made available post-launch.
In addition, community input has significantly influenced the growth of Pixelshire, and this trend will persist. It serves as a compass for decisions regarding updates, adjustments, and additional content. For instance, multiplayer mode is one of the top requests from our community. Although I can’t guarantee its implementation due to its complexity and cost, we will certainly evaluate it if the game proves successful.

A: Releasing Pixelshire marks a significant step forward, but it’s merely the first chapter. We have many more ideas in store. At present, our primary concern is ensuring a successful launch and addressing any player issues that might crop up.
