It’s a testament to the skill and creativity of the modder, Otzedotze, who has breathed new life into an old classic.
The original PlayStation is now almost 30 years old and so, in a bid to give it a new lease of life, one skilled fan has dedicated their time to turning the classic console into an awesome looking Tomb Raider-themed system, and it even includes a mini replica of the Scion artifact. Although Lara Croft has seen many appearance changes over the years, it’s safe to say that Tomb Raider fans still love nothing more than jumping into the popular games that focus on the fictional British archaeologist who travels around the globe in search of lost artifacts and hidden treasures, all while navigating dangerous enemies and crumbling ruins.
First introduced in 1996, “Tomb Raider” rapidly earned recognition as one of PlayStation’s top 3D action-adventure game series, known for its steep learning curve and challenging difficulty levels. Regardless, the game’s enduring popularity over time made it a massive success among action-adventure enthusiasts worldwide, with Lara Croft, its tough heroine, also becoming one of gaming’s most memorable female characters.
PlayStation Fan Makes Custom Tomb Raider-Themed PS1
Refurbishing the PlayStation One with a rugged stone-hued paint job to evoke an antique atmosphere, Otzedotze adds the “Tomb Raider” title in bold white at the system’s top left corner for maximum visibility. To complement its enigmatic ambiance, the two main buttons receive a splash of electric blue paint. The post’s comments are filled with praise for Otzedotze’s innovative design and craftsmanship, with one user exclaiming, “Wow, I don’t usually appreciate wild PS1 modifications, but this creation exudes tons of character and an impressive rocky feel. Well done!” Given Lara Croft’s presence in games such as “Dead by Daylight”, it would be intriguing to observe if fans will capitalize on her recent prominence and attempt customizations for other consoles, perhaps even a personalized PlayStation 5.
For fans of PlayStation 1 games, there’s an exciting event coming up on September 19: the release of “Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars” for PlayStation 5! This beloved point-and-click adventure game, originally released 28 years ago, is making a triumphant return as an improved version of the Revolution Software classic.
