Players can opt to select alternative profile pictures resembling their lost PSN avatars, yet these don’t show up universally, making it an imperfect substitute.

It remains unclear whether these losses of old icons are due to a technical error or if Sony has discontinued them silently. Regardless, it’s reasonable for gamers to feel frustrated about this situation. Many fans have kept these avatars on their accounts for close to two decades and some even paid real money to obtain them originally.
