PlayStation is Officially Shutting Down Another First-Party Studio

Sony’s PlayStation is closing Dark Outlaw Games, a studio that makes first-person games and was founded in 2025. This is the second PlayStation game studio to close its doors recently.

PlayStation previously announced that Bluepoint Games, the acclaimed studio behind remakes of games like Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, would close in March 2026. After helping with God of War Ragnarok and briefly working on a canceled online God of War game, Bluepoint wasn’t able to secure a new project and will be shut down by PlayStation. Now, another studio, Dark Outlaw Games, is facing a similar fate.

Dark Outlaw Games, founded in March 2025 by former Call of Duty lead Jason Blundell – best known for his work on the Black Ops series and Zombies mode – has already closed, as reported by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. The studio hadn’t announced its first game. This follows Blundell’s previous studio, Deviation Games, which shut down in 2024. It’s currently unclear if any information about Dark Outlaw Games or its projects will be released.

Honestly, it’s pretty worrying to see so many talented people losing their jobs, and it seems like it’s all down to money problems and uncertainty about the future of the industry.
