Key announcements included a major expansion for Elden Ring called Nightreign, details about the next beta test for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and a confirmed March 12, 2026 release date for the Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
PlayStation Is Releasing a 27″ Monitor With Built-In PS5 Features
I was so excited to see PlayStation announce a new gaming monitor at the Sony State of Play Japan! It’s a 27-inch monitor, and get this – it has a built-in hook to charge your DualSense or DualSense Edge controller! It’s cleverly designed – the hook is on the back, near all the ports, and you can even swivel it away when you’re not using it, keeping things tidy. It’s a really cool feature for keeping your setup organized and your controller charged!
Sony is releasing a new monitor specifically designed for PlayStation consoles. It boasts a high-quality Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. When used with a PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro, the monitor automatically optimizes HDR settings for a better gaming experience. It also supports a fast 240Hz refresh rate and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology. However, you’ll need compatible games and devices to take full advantage of these features. If you’re using the standard PlayStation 5, the monitor’s refresh rate will be limited to 120Hz.
The PlayStation monitor has two HDMI 2.1 ports that support resolutions up to 2560×1440 at a refresh rate of 240Hz, as well as features like FRL and VRR. It also includes one DisplayPort that supports up to 2560×1440 at 240Hz with DSC. For connectivity, there are two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, built-in stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Sony is planning to release an official PlayStation monitor in 2026 in both the US and Japan, as reported by the PlayStation Blog. While Sony hasn’t announced the price yet, similar monitors generally cost between $300 and $400. Models with OLED screens and comparable features usually range from $500 to $700. However, fans will need to wait for Sony’s official price announcement to know for sure.
