PlayStation Plus MASS GAME Purge?! 22 Titles Gone in May!

Summary

  • Sony is removing a staggering 22 games from PlayStation Plus in May.
  • Titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Batman: Arkham Knight, InFAMOUS: Second Son, and multiple PSVR 2 games are leaving the service.

Sony is planning to take down 22 games from their PlayStation Plus library on May 20, 2025. Titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Batman: Arkham Knight, inFAMOUS: Second Son, Payday 2, and several others will no longer be available. It’s common for new games to join PlayStation Plus every month, but unfortunately, a larger number of games than usual, around 20, are set to depart from the service in May.

Essential for PS4 and PS5 owners, PlayStation Plus has grown to be a necessity, boasting frequent additions of AAA and indie games. The latest wave of games joined the service on April 15, with Sony adding titles like Battlefield 1, Hogwarts Legacy, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 2, and PlateUp. Those subscribed to the Extra and Premium Tier of PlayStation Plus could enjoy these games. In addition, Premium members were granted access to older titles such as Alone in the Dark 2 and War of the Monsters.

This month saw some significant game additions to the service, but it appears that PlayStation Plus could be facing one of its least productive months in May 2025, with over 20 games slated to depart from the catalog. As noted by PushSquare, the “Last Chance to Play” section on the PlayStation 5 now features a total of 22 games for players to enjoy before they’re removed, including popular titles such as Grand Theft Auto V, MotoGP 24, Ghostrunner, The Sims 4: Island Living Expansion, Payday 2: Crimwave Edition, Resistance 2, Batman: Arkham Knight, and many more.

Without a doubt, among the 22 games departing from PS Plus, it’s the return of Grand Theft Auto 5 that stands out. This game resurfaced in November 2024 after a previous stint, but it has been known to cycle in and out of the service. Given its past behavior, there’s a good possibility it will come back again at some point in the future. Specifically, Grand Theft Auto 5 was taken off PS Plus in June 2024, reappeared in November 2024, and now, six months later, it’s set to depart along with other popular titles on May 20.

It seems that Virtual Reality enthusiasts are in for a tough month, as several highly-acclaimed PSVR 2 games are set to be taken off PlayStation Plus. A total of five PSVR 2 titles will disappear from the platform on May 20th, including “The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners” (Chapters 1 and 2), “Synth Riders”, “Before Your Eyes”, and “Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord”. To avoid missing out, fans should make sure to play these games before May 20th.
