Beyond their apology, PlayStation hasn’t offered any additional information about what led to the outage. Since their initial Friday night post confirming some users were experiencing issues, they hadn’t addressed the cause of the problem until now. Interestingly, during this period, all they shared on their platform was a guide on how to install M.2 storage for the console.

Originally, the PlayStation Network experienced an outage on Friday evening at approximately 6 PM Eastern Time. This interruption affected users worldwide, impairing their ability to log in, engage in online gameplay, and access the PlayStation Store.

TopMob contacted Sony (PlayStation) seeking clarification about the reason behind the PlayStation Network outage over the weekend. If they reply or provide a detailed explanation in an official manner, we’ll include it in our report.
