Summary
- A fan artist showcases the evolution of Diglett into a Water-type Pokemon due to loneliness.
- Diglett and Dugtrio are popular among fan artists due to their history and nostalgic value in the Pokemon community.
A passionate Pokemon enthusiast has conceived an imaginative adaptation of Diglett and its evolution, turning it into a Water-type Pokemon. Unlike other fan-created Pokemon concepts, this one offers a poignant backstory, illustrating the consequences when the Mole Pokemon feels lonely.
Diglett, one of the original 151 Pokémon from the franchise’s first games in the ’90s (specifically number 50), has a rich background and continues to intrigue players as it pops its head out from a burrow in the ground, fueling curiosity about what lies beneath. Along with Magnemite, Diglett set the precedent for Pokémon that evolve by merging with others of their kind.
One passionate artist and Pokemon enthusiast has imagined a tragic tale behind the introduction of the Water-type Diglett variant Soblett, distinct from the Wiglett in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Reddit user Matratzfratz has sketched and posted this fan creation, which bears a striking resemblance to the original Diglett but features teary eyes streaming down its face instead of the usual glossy ones. Upon closer examination of Sobsolo, its evolution, one can see why it weeps, as instead of uniting with two others like Diglett does to form Dugtrio, Soblett’s tears transform into streams of water, each with faces of their own, creating a more somber trio.
Pokemon Fan Shows What Happens When Diglett Evolves Without Friends
Artists often create unique interpretations of Diglett and Dugtrio as popular characters, possibly due to their intriguing background. In the year 2016, the Alolan forms of Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon represented the first instance of previously known Pokemon appearing differently in a new region, with altered types, movesets, and visuals. Among the initial 18 Generation-1 Pokemon, Diglett and Dugtrio were selected for this transformation. This modification added Steel to their original Ground-type, causing golden tufts of hair to appear on Dugtrio’s heads, reminiscent of Hawaiian volcanic glass.
Designing unique takes on Pokemon characters is quite popular among fans, and the artist behind Soblett and Sobsolo has been sharing their creative versions for several years now. Previous works include a German folklore-inspired Falinks made from garden gnomes, an Arbok variant that transforms the cobra into a kite with a Poison/Flying type, as well as Oil Spill-themed Poison-types for Diglett and Dugtrio. In their latest creation, however, the artist delivers a comforting message about feeling sad: “You are not alone,” it reads, encouraging anyone who might be struggling to seek help.
