Pokemon Animal Crossing-Like Gets Release Date

Nintendo has officially announced that Pokemon Pokopia will be released soon! This new game lets you play as a human-shaped Ditto and work with other Pokemon to create a Pokemon paradise. Pokemon Pokopia was first revealed during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, and was originally planned for release sometime in 2026.

The reveal trailer for Pokemon Pokopia also confirmed the game is being created through a collaboration between Koei Tecmo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company. This is the first major project these companies have worked on together since Pokemon Conquest in 2012, which was a unique crossover game for the Nintendo DS combining Pokemon with the Nobunaga’s Ambition series.

Pokemon Pokopia Is Officially Releasing in March 2026

Nintendo announced on November 11th that Pokemon Pokopia will launch on March 5, 2026, and will only be available on the Nintendo Switch 2. Before the official announcement, Gematsu reported on Bluesky that a new trailer for the game will be released on YouTube at 6am Pacific Time/9am Eastern Time on November 13th. Gematsu also shared that pre-orders for the physical version of the game will begin in Japan on November 13th, and digital pre-orders will be available starting November 12th.

In 2026, the Pokémon franchise will celebrate its 30th anniversary, and fans anticipate a big celebration from The Pokémon Company. Pokémon Pokopia is expected to be just one part of the festivities, alongside the release of Pokémon Champions, a game focused on multiplayer battles. Because The Pokémon Company has held a Pokémon Presents showcase every February since 2021, fans are hoping for another one in 2026, potentially revealing major news like the details for the next generation of Pokémon – Generation 10.

The March 2026 release of Pokemon Pokopia is shaping up to be a huge start to the year for the franchise, and it also adds to an already crowded early 2026 release schedule. February will see the arrival of Nioh 3 and Resident Evil Requiem, and March, alongside Pokemon Pokopia, will bring Slay the Spire 2 (early access), Monster Hunter Stories 3, Crimson Desert, Mouse P.I. For Hire, Saros, and 007 First Light. With its focus on relaxing, cozy gameplay, Pokemon Pokopia should still stand out despite launching between the popular titles Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3.
