Fans are noticing a strange glitch in Pokemon Champions involving the Pokemon Gallade. It appears Gallade’s gender changes depending on where you look in the game. This adds to the existing confusion surrounding a female Gallade, which shouldn’t exist in the first place, and is further highlighted by inconsistent information in the game’s tutorial screens.
Pokémon Champions, a free-to-play strategy game developed by The Pokémon Company, launched on Nintendo Switch on April 8th and is planned for release on mobile devices in 2026. The development team quickly apologized to players for various problems encountered after launch. These issues include gameplay bugs, such as incorrect turn order during Mega Evolution, and smaller inaccuracies, like a flawed description of the Leech Seed move.
Pokemon Champions’ Female Gallade Just Got Weirder
Fans have noticed a curious inconsistency in Pokemon Champions: a Gallade appearing in a tutorial section seems to be identified as both male and female. One user on Reddit, TheXernDoodles, pointed out that while the animated gameplay shows this Gallade as female, the tutorial screens still display a male gender symbol next to its name. This has quickly become a prominent point of discussion among players.
Gallade is a powerful, final evolution of the Ralts family, and it’s unique because it’s one of the few Pokémon that combines Psychic and Fighting abilities. Interestingly, in almost every other Pokémon game, movie, or show, only male Kirlia can evolve into Gallade. Both male and female Kirlia, however, can become Gardevoir.
The recent appearance of a female Gallade in the new Pokemon Champions game surprised many fans, but it doesn’t appear to be a permanent issue. Players can connect the game to the Pokemon Home app to move Pokemon between games, but any experience points earned in Pokemon Champions won’t transfer. While Pokemon Champions has a system for recruiting new Pokemon, those created within the game can’t be sent to Pokemon Home, meaning players can’t transfer a female Gallade to other games, even if they manage to find one. The developers have announced they will fix the incorrect gender assignment in a future update.

Many fans are upset about the changes to the female Gallade and have asked The Pokémon Company to reconsider. However, others have noticed other mistakes in recent Pokémon games. For example, in Pokémon Pokopia, some players discovered that the Bug-type Pokémon Spinarak and Ariados were incorrectly listed without their Poison typing. This issue has already been fixed with an update, and fans hoping for a correction to the female Gallade in Pokémon Champions can likely expect a similar fix soon.
